When I was in nursing school doing my pediatric rotation, asked not to be assigned any babies, as I had small children at home and did not think I could handle a very sick infant, baby, or toddler. I told my instructor, give me the sickest teenager as I can handle that. The patient I was assigned had necrotizing fasciitis, and if I remember correctly it was between the chest and the abdomen. This poor young man had more tubes coming out of his body than I thought was possible. After I was an RN I also had a couple of adults that had NF too. YES, they used very high-potency antibiotics, but they kill the bacteria and save the patient's lives.

Yes I was too and lost good friend due to same disease she was in car accident only injury was a gash on her left thigh from car door . Later than night her leg was so much worst she lost her leg but spread through her abdomen and she passed we tried so hard this is when we are were first aware of this disease new but Thank God we had great Infectious MD and got the unit under control no further cases . Yes I had to dress up like we did with first COVID found. I unfortunately had Back Surgery that was a failed Sugery due to massive infection I received from Debridement due to MRSA I never had before tested which later got so severe that I was taken to OR every day for debridement kept getting worst spreading necrotic muscles tendons skin they removed screws plates from my spine and I coded that night but my ID MD was a specialist that was here in country learning about Surgical Skills due to trauma and war in his country he recognized my infection which had spread to worst infection yeas Flesh Eating I lost most of lower back muscles tendons skin he kept me alive with new drug used in his country which he got approval for me to use here but sadly ruined my RNP career as not allow to lift period more Han 3-4 lbs must wear back support and had wound vac on for 2 years plus other than need plastics to rebuild special device to cover my back and keep my wound close I’m doing much better than I was . Unfortunately Flesh Eating Infection still around but we have much better care and rules regulations to prevent from spreading . I can only imagine what little girl and mom went through as I was in the same spot myself I pray no one else patient, Doctor, Nurse Lab Tech or other staff caring for the patient be safe and precautions taken seriously as mine were .
