I am yet to find a job, not only like it, but any job of which I may have seen as below me. I just want you to always consider the possibility because by all metrics, I should not have been let go and even had our tier 3 guy leave that place even faster after he saw what they did to me. So just always be prepared, which is ironic too, because nothing can prepare you for this job market

We have to push back against this and end all immigration or we will be replaced by Indian serfs who will be happy to live and work at the office for 90 hours a week for peanuts.

Computers have taken all the good jobs, starting in the 70s. You might wait 2-3 years for a decent job, despite an excellent resume. 5-10 in an apt, if the lease allows it. People will trample each other for work. Politicians will not talk about this, since they will not be re-elected.

Jobs $12 and under is what is getting boosted. Especially with dependents. AGI 2025 14k-23k ECI with 3 dependents ...$8k credit. Add in with holding, most will get $10k tax return. Put $2k in 401k/IRA, another $1k credit with Savers Credit. Add in CTC and additional CTC, plus standard deduction, on AGI 23k, get a tax return approaching $12k. Put $2k of return in IRA CD at your own bank, earn interest and $1k saver credit next year. IRA not counted in FAFSA, SNAP, CHIP, etc. A few years of this will get down payment on house. Use half tax return every year for lump sum mortgage payment. Get LTV below 80%, cancel escrow and PMI. Use lump of tax return to pay taxes and HOI.

The issue is that there is less money in the economy in general due to the Boomer generation entering into retirement and spending less. The working cohort will need to look outside side of those sectors that have been supported by the Boomers' spending power, and instead focus on those industries that are in their ascendance, like the heathcare, defence (including cybersecurity) and energy sectors.

It has been tough this year finding work, until something came through in October, thankfully. It has been hard even getting paid for work done, and it seems as though these employers are seeking the world, yet it is a race to the bottom, in my opinion. A great deal is demanded for sub $18.00 per hour. Tech totally sucks too. I now feel that all that retooling I did in 2023 was kind of an expensive waste of effort. Although I am working, I can feel everyone’s frustration and am really sick of this B.S. Still waiting to learn of compelling reasons as to why it even makes sense to stay in this country.

Why should you be optimistic in 2025? I know this answer sucks, but it is the answer if there is an answer to be had, that answer being it is the best available option. I know with this channel you already know something about creating opportunity when you aren't being given pre-existing opportunities that you very well deserve. This is kinda out of your wheelhouse professionally speaking and if possible that you could be the kinda employer you want to see in the work working in the field you already know and you can capitalize upon undervalued human capital it is a moral victory and could potentially be a financial victory. I mean you have had so many roles you know what "what it takes to succeed" in each of those roles is like. You would have to leverage the inherent advantage of a small operation to make a small operation work but you perhaps already know how to do that. The employer concentration has further increased their economies of scale advantage but their disadvantages that are the inherent disadvantages of large organizations has become and continues to still further become disadvantageous. They are bloated and have no flexibility nor do they have quick turnaround or attractive throughput rates. It would require hella guts but if you got hella guts it is a thing to consider.
