I ran into this after losing my job of about 50k a year in the pandemic. I just can't get excited about working. And there's good reason for that. Instead of things getting better for most people coming out of the pandemic, they simply got worse and stayed that way.

I am not currently unemployed, but am a software dev in my 50s like the fading man. I respect how he thought to look outside of his experience to find a job that pays the bills. He doesn't love the job, but huge kudos to him. With the HUGE flood of H1Bs coming in next few years, I will be doing the same as him. I don't see any work as below me, so I'll do whatever I have to. It's just a shame it came to being replaced.

It’s only worth it depending on the person. Some can’t handle a 9-5 and hustle in other ways. For me, I’ve built up a lot of resilience over the years and really went out of my way to keep a stable job. It wasn’t easy but being able to work the way that I do now has kept me out of any debt and way into the green to the point where my husband and I will soon be viewing places to possibly buy or rent with over a year’s worth of an emergency fund. 9-5’s are never easy…for anyone. But it’s worth doing it when you have goals in mind.

There are jobs but probably an exercise in humility if someone’s gone to college and been in corporate. Jobs like driving seniors to clinics in a van, exterminator jobs, etc., adult newspaper delivery, it’s rough I know. For someone like Labor Gains maybe let a job agency find him a comparable job to what he has done in the past.

Hey there friend, great video again! I wanted to chime in with something I’ve mentioned before: We’re the same age (39), and I think a lot of people our age are starting to realize it’s time to go where the jobs are instead of chasing advice from these self-help gurus online. You know, the ones who say, “Just tweak this on your résumé or LinkedIn, and everything will change!” Let’s be real-if those tricks even work, they often just lead to another soul-sucking corporate job. I think you’re really close to nailing an important point, but maybe just need a little nudge: there are so many good-paying jobs out there that don’t require a degree. Trades, healthcare roles like nursing, and plenty of others are out there if you’re willing to step outside the whole “9-to-5, cushy office” mindset that we’ve all been kind of programmed to think is the dream. For example, in my state, being a Correctional Officer is a great-paying job that comes with solid benefits and is always in demand. I’ve seen a lot of people from the Central Valley build a strong, middle-class life out of this career. Again, you just have to assess the job market and go where the jobs are. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone instead of holding out for that shiny office or remote job. Unfortunately, this kind of practical mindset isn’t something that’s really taught in schools, but it’s so crucial to finding success.

Being a CO can be a difficult and even more soul-degrading job than the average office job. Plus, you are contributing to the proliferation of the the prison industrial complex.
@kingsofbattlegaming154015 күн бұрын
@pisceanbeauty2503 I completely agree with you-there are certainly drawbacks to consider. However, if I were in that situation, ensuring my family has a roof over their heads would be my top priority. While I’m not here to debate politics or dismiss the valid points you’ve raised, this path *is* an option worth considering, especially for those struggling to gain traction with office jobs.

If you’re single, no kids and don’t have family you need to be near. Absolutely get a CDL and drive trucks. I’m considering it myself. The only downside is paying rent in an apartment you don’t live in much assuming you hotel or sleep in the truck cabin most of the time.

The pandemic started the remote work fad which was only supposed to be temporary and now the younger generations expect it. Most businesses will always require a 40 hour work week inside the business. There's a reason why many businesses work 9-5.

Remote work still exist for seniors and for those who inherit it. Constellis, part of military industrial complex, is still hiring like crazy including tech people. Warehouse and min-wage jobs are some of the hardest jobs to get during a depression because everyone rush to it. I think for most amazon cagie jobs now you need referral. The reason what you should aim for a tech job even at the same wage as warehousing is if you have an employment gap of tech jobs it will be a lot harder down the road to get back in.

A job with a 401k and a company match will get people to financial independence. You have to max it out every year and build up that golden goose. Then it will spit out golden eggs 🥚.
