We visited Glacier a few weeks ago and planned on hiking the Highline trail at Logan Pass. We did the right thing by going there early in the morning, but it was really foggy at the time with no views so we decided to come back later when the skies cleared up. We came back around noon, but at that time the parking was full. We had to circle around the parking lot for about 30 minutes until we finally snagged an open spot, and there were plenty of other vehicles dong the same thing. People will literally fight over parking spots here.

Thanks for sharing! People always think I’m exaggerating when it comes to Logan but it’s true-it really is a zoo.

Good luck! That border is usually pretty easy to get through, but you never know!

I had heard from many sources about getting in early to the parking lots for some of these super-popular places. With that in mind, we were considering getting in super early as suggested but essentially tailgating in the parking lot for breakfast (i.e. use a small grill to make coffee, etc. but nothing too fancy). Do you know if we're going to catch flack for this or be discouraged? Obviously we are aiming to do this away from other parking spots/cars as to not be a nuisance to others using the lot (possibly at a picnic table if they have any there) but I would hate to *plan* for this only to have someone like a ranger tell us we shouldn't be doing it. I had read on reddit this wouldn't be a problem but it would be nice to hear it from someone else who has been there as well. I appreciate the advice!

You should be fine! Just make sure your grill is propane. The park is open 24/7 technically. Some people even stay overnight at Logan Pass to get night photography.

@@AlexontheMap Thank you so much! Yes, our grill is propane! I truly appreciate your response as it gives me great comfort! This will be our first time in Glacier but I've never had to do so much planning in advance for a National Park! Looking forward to it all the same! Best wishes!!

Thanks Alex, planning to hike Mount Siyeh our second day here. How do we get to the trailhead, and what options do we have to get there?
@AlexontheMap6 ай бұрын
Hey, there! You'll love it! Much of it depends on where you are staying. If you are on the east side and entering from there, you'll drive Going-to-the-Sun Road (no need for a reservation from this side) until you reach Siyeh Bend, which is where the trailhead is located. From the west side, you'll still take Going-to-the-Sun Road, but you will need a reservation entering from the hours of 6:00 am until 3:00 pm. You'll drive it until you reach Siyeh Bend. You can take the shuttle both ways without a reservation. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks for all the info! I've heard horror stories about getting stranded when taking the shuttle because there aren't enough seats for your family (family of 4) for the trip back to where you started. What are your thoughts on this?
@AlexontheMap5 ай бұрын
It’s definitely a possibility! What I would recommend is choosing a spot like Avalanche or Lake McDonald Lodge to reconvene. Unfortunately shuttles need to be a certain size otherwise they would be too big for the road.

@@AlexontheMap Thanks! We are staying at St. Mary KOA, so we will be headed to Logan Pass from the East Side of Glacier. Do you think Sun Point Shuttle Stop would be a good spot to leave our car then vs. Lake McDonald? We are planning to just do Logan Pass and St. Mary/Virginia Falls that day.

@@christinapodlucky3730 Yes! Lake McDonald Lodge is all the way on the other side of the park. So Sun Point or even the St. Mary Visitor Center would be the way to go.
