I’ve only been watching your channel for maybe two or three weeks and you’ve already helped me! I’m 54 years old and I actually start nursing school this Wednesday L O L! I’m scared to death. I don’t have any confidence on the oldest person in the class and a lot of the things that you talk about really helps me get over myself and look at this as a positive experience instead of crouched in the corner wondering what the hell I’m doing with myself.

Dani, if you were so inclined at some future time, I’d love to be in a group of people talking about this dance between “calling”/dream job/partner/fill in the blank with what your intuition is drawing you toward and the material/logistical/fill in the blank realities that seem opposed to following it. Maybe a mastermind group or just a weekly discussion group? I’d be so curious and grateful to hear others think out loud about this subject area.

Dear Dani, So fun to hear your thoughts! I had a few responses -- a friend and I heard a talk about the Beatrix Potter exhibit at the Frist in Nashville. I didn't know that Ms. Potter was such a savvy entrepreneur, in addition to a talented writer and designer and painter. She self-published her first bunny book, and it was in black-and-white because that was all she could afford for the first printing. Then the print runs grew in numbers, each time, and she could splurge on color. And she used her proceeds to buy farmland and raise diminishing-breeds of sheep, and now her donated land is a UNESCO heritage site. So I think your path can lead anywhere! One thing I'd like to hear more about is your process for budgeting. You said you needed to make more money than Day Job currently pays. Without divulging private things, maybe you could have a walk through of the finances? Thanks!

HI! I just started following you and while your van life videos intrigued me to stay, I too feel like you have such a refreshing personality, its what kept me here. And I am not talking about being bubbly and upbeat all the time, i am talking about being REAL and this being real life and you having the ups and downs all of us have. I think thats all anyone else is looking for, validation that them going through this life and the things they do are acceptable and have happened to others. ALso, at the 12 minute mark of this video you said something that struck me... you said "life coach's are supposed to have it all together and be successful, be put together with make up, etc...... And I just want to point out that PERSPECTIVE of each of those things ( success, life is all together, be presentable) mean something different to all of us. I view you as successful because you jumped into the unknown to per sue a life you thought you'd love, and went with it, and that was your goal. I guess what I am saying is dont get hung up on what YOU think that OTHER PEOPLE think is the definition of a standard is. :)

I felt that deeply when you said you felt like your intuition betrayed you. I too followed my intuition regarding a relationship..I also had a vision of where I wanted to go in life and I felt so deeply I would get there. Until I didn't. I felt such a disconnect with myself at that point. I felt like why have hopes and listen to my intuition I felt like it was just wishful thinking. Now looking back I almost feel like life has a funny way of testing us and testing our trust on the universe and ourselves. I often wonder what happens if I try again to fully trust and not let fear take over as well as doubts. Super happy you're starting your side hustle. I wish you the best of luck! You articulated that beautifully! I so relate. I too have gone with a dream, loved it, then had to pivot because it wasn’t supporting me enough financially. That internal convo of “do I hope again, so I listen to my intuition again, to I try and build a stronger relationship with a higher power or is that all pie in the sky and irresponsible and will it leave me in a bad place as I age. Im excited to hear others talk about this. Maybe Dani can have a mastermind group around this!!

I only found your channel today! I feel a kindred spirit in you. I've had a sewing business officially since 2008 and just sort of quit this past winter. As a break, but maybe quitting? I'm burned out. It's a little bit like you described with your coaching business plus just working way too hard with no days off for too long. I don't want to really quit as much as reinvent. My kids are grown. I have a minivan that I took the seats out of for vending at music festivals for my craft. I've had a number of big life changes in the past 4 years that are really just sinking in. I've been thinking this summer I need to just fix it up for camping and get out there only for the fun of it instead of gigging. I love your content. I've been watching and learning. Gigging at a fest is not the same as just camping out on your own at all. I've been feeling afraid of that. I appreciate your videos quite a lot.

Also, follow Elaine @TravelGrandma and Jan @ButterflyTracks. I know them both personally and they do meetups and have just awesome everything! Also, if you start local, you might find someone who also wants to travel outside and you could tag team across the country or something.

Sounds great!! I totally relate because I had what I thought was my “calling” love of my life job as an independent contractor postpartum doula working with a group of other doulas. Loved, love, loved it but I lost a lot of ground financially those 8 years. And 4 yrs ago I return to the corporate world and have struggled with that loss. I still do infant sleep consults a few weekends a month, which is wonderful. But as a single 50 yr old who burned through previous savings to do what I loved, I now feel the tension of being responsible for my future self so that I can retain options and not end up a burden on others. It’s an interesting dilemma and I appreciate that you plan to share that aspect of your journey.

So you ARE a life coach! LOL. That explains why you are so good at sharing your philosophy! As one life coach to another, I suggest you stop saying that your business "failed." I'll bet it only "failed" at giving you what you expected of it in the timeline you expected it to. I'll bet you are a darn good life coach - and I've only watched a handful of your videos but I have this sense about you. And there's this illusion that unless you are very well off and have the kind of lifestyle that western - particularly American - culture assumes represents "success", you are nothing. I live in a rural cabin with no running water and no plumbing and an outhouse - I am exactly where I want to be! I'm one of the happiest people I know! So we need to never judge a book by its cover. Folks who think money and stuff = success are mostly always craving what they don't have. I am getting rid of all my stuff and getting stuff free second-hand, and I totally love it. AND it's good for the planet. So, Dani, maybe you just need to figure out what success is for you from here on in, and enjoy the fact that you are inspiring folks out here with who you are and what you are doing! You GO, girl!
