Huh...how? "Girlfriend tax" and dad tax aren't the same thing. When your parents steal your food it's funny because the say you kind of owe us in a joking way even though they paid for it. When I hear the joke of women stealing their boyfriend meals when she says she on a diet/ she's not hungry or doesnt want to intrude on his finances and then ate all his food when she could've just had a whole separate meal in the first place I don't think that's funny. I see that as a boundary issue. Parents don't have to ask that's a courtesy even hiding behind a lame joke. Which my mom's does all the time. However, with boyfriend who isn't blood I wouldn't do that doesn't matter how long I've known him for. I don't know what your dynamic that just my thoughts.

The common core comment is actually accurate. I have a friend who teaches an advanced calculus course at a university and he said that the students that he is beginning to see that learned common core principles are a nightmare. In his words "I have to teach my students to be able to recall basic calculation by memory. A skill that they should have learned in secondary school. Analyzing it on a deeper level is great in theory, but in practice, no one will hire you as an engineer if you take an entire day to work out a center line."

Every time my step-dad would take us to get ice cream he'd take a bite out of mine simply because he knew I couldn't stand eating after him. He offer to get us ice cream just so he could do it. He's in a nursing home now after a stroke. About once a week I go visit him and spit in his food right in front of him. He's incapable of speech or really any communication, but I can still see the rage in his beady little eyes. When he gets huffy, after watching me hack a green one in his soup, I ask him if he'd like me to show him what it's like to be water boarded. Then I remind him that I'm the only family has left, and that I'll have him cremated and dumped into the dumpster at a taco bell. That man made me one hell of a soldier.
