It is pretty common for the tensioner spring to break off when removing the tensioner? I took mine off and I started on the bolt at the bottom spring park. And it shot off and broke. Did I do it wrong?

You stick a pin thru the tensioner. It goes into a little hole in the block. Keeps that from happening.

There's a hole in the tensioner that you stick a pin thru into a hole on the block. It prevents the spring pressure from bounding the tensioner out.

Will this fix the rattling noises I hear everytime I turn the a/c on in the car?

I did this job, but the belt still isn't very tight. I did remove the pin, or actually it fell out when I released the tension to put the new belt on.

I just installed a new tensioner and I'm not able to release the tension to get the new belt on. I'm not surprised by that part because I don't have a lot of leverage or weight to put behind it, but is there a way around that? Another method of getting the belt on without having to find someone to loosen the tension for me? Thanks!

Hi! New Subscriber here! What is the name of the hose right above the alternator in your video, near the belt? That needs to be replaced also on my 2011 while replacing the belt 🥴. That one busted on me and what looked like coolant, was everywhere 😞. Thanks!

@@troysmith3713 Not a mechanic, but I just recently did a fix for a P0171 fix on my Cruze 2011 LTZ Turbo, with the catch can, new intake manifold and custom bypass. I had blown my pcv hose, intake manifold rubber seal and finally valve cover started whistling. All this just to say i'm familiar with a valve cover. You said you did a valve cover replacement recently, did you add gasket silicone to the 3 spots of the valve cover? I had a leak as well, but what I found out was my previous service center never added gasket silicone to the top, bottom and mid grab points near and around the bolts and I was leaking oil. There are gap points found on the metal on top and bottom on the left side where the bolts are where gasket silicone is required. Have you checked if this is where your leak is from? This is of course unrelated to the your belt situation. From one Cruze owner to the next, hope this helps or you find a solution to the issue.
