Thank you!!! Worked like a charm. I had a VCDS diagnostic program from Ross-Tech. It wouldn’t recognize my 2018 Q7’s parking brake and would not release it electronically. The manual method you demonstrated was spot-on. Added maybe 15 minutes for each rear brake, but it was time well spent. I truly appreciate your time to educate me.

I use my cordless drill battery, attach a positive and negative wire and then connect those wires to the electric servo motor. This will allow you to actuate the servo motor. Just swap the wire orientation to actuate the servo in and out. This eliminates the step of manually rotating the servo.

Great video to start off, the manual parking break has been my back pocket move and spot on. I just wanted to add one thing that is worth a try. I have used a couple two way scan tools and using audi works on one but not the other. So my trick to bypassing that is selecting a volkswagon vehicle then going into the service mode. Since vw and audi are so similar in mechanicing and parts, sometimes exaclty the same, it sometimes works. But to be honest by the time it takes to mess with all that removing the E-Brake motor seems to be easy enough just as you did. Thank you for the great video, I hope this will help someone down the road at some point of not brakes than something else to diagnose.

Thank you so much for making this video. From what I read, Audi pulled a ethically bankrupt move and locked out the VAGCOM for home repairers to open the parking brake. I was considering supplying 12V to the parking brake motor to back it out, but this is way safer. Thank you.

Yes... we own a 2019 Q8 Premium Plus and this procedure worked just fine.
