We have an old piano that my brothers and I are going to convert into a bar, but a multipurpose one. Not just for holding wine, but also for holding glasses for things, a few types of liquors, a place where you can mix drinks, and even maybe a tap with a couple mini kegs in it. But this is really cool as well!

Great idea! My buddy made one with a kegerator, and I built another one for more that’s more like what you described.

Great job. A piece of junk turned into a work of art with a valuable function.

Cool upcycle. Pianos are frequently made from high-quality wood. Hopefully you got some good scraps from the leftovers.
@YouCanMakeThisToo7 жыл бұрын
+Seth Galitzer thanks! I didn't have many scraps left over from this because I reused the wood as much as I could in the project. The shelves and wine rack are all from stuff I took off the piano. But you're right, lots of oak and poplar.

Getting ready to do this with an old player piano. Looking at a lot of ideas. This is really cool! The music kept dropping out, was that just me?
@YouCanMakeThisToo3 жыл бұрын
Nah.. this was one of my first videos and I think they made me remove the music.
@Itsthatoneguy3713 жыл бұрын
@@YouCanMakeThisToo you would think they would like the exposure?! I don’t understand that.

I have a client wanting me to convert their old upright piano to a bar and wants a estimate. Do you have any idea what you would charge for this with labor and materials or how many hours labor is involved?
@YouCanMakeThisToo4 жыл бұрын
There's only a few hundred bucks in material. I probably spent about 20-30 hours on the project.
@Itsthatoneguy3713 жыл бұрын
How much is your time worth? $50-$75 an hour. This is custom work you will be doing so don’t be afraid to go big!

How tall is the piano total?
@eddiehockey143 жыл бұрын
I’m working on one of these and I find talking is enough vibration to shake the strings and make a sound, did you do something to prevent this?
@YouCanMakeThisToo3 жыл бұрын
Mine isn't like that.. I suspect if you loose the strings it'd fix it though.
@eddiehockey143 жыл бұрын
I’d like to keep them though for the look! Did you mean loosen?
@YouCanMakeThisToo3 жыл бұрын
Yep! My bad. Loosen. No lose. Whoops

I like the build very much but would have removed the sound board aka harp. Yes it's attractive but the weight of this thing still must be too much.
@YouCanMakeThisToo7 жыл бұрын
+Paul St George it is very heavy. I think that's a personal thing. To me the weight is worth it, otherwise it would just be a piano shaped cabinet. Besides, it's not the type of furniture you would move frequently and the weight makes it stable.

Personally I hate the Idea, I think the piano should have been restored, your execution was pretty great though.
@YouCanMakeThisToo3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I get that, but there's a reason there's so many old pianos for free hanging around - I've done a few of these and never paid for one. Sad reality is its repurpose or landfill.

If this is the second piano bar then where can we find the first one? :p
@YouCanMakeThisToo7 жыл бұрын
+Pieter-Matthijs Bolt in my living room! But don't go looking, that would be creepy.

Варварство 🙈 если нельзя было отреставрировать как инструмент-то да, вдохнули в вещь вторую жизнь. Что поделать☹
@HSkraekelig7 жыл бұрын
Interesting repurposing of a piano. Poor old thing. On a purely technical note, the music level is much higher than your voice, so every time you spoke, I had to stop the video and turn up the sound, then why it cuts back to music, turn it back down again. Picky, I know, but I thought you'd like to hear about it.
@YouCanMakeThisToo7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I'll make sure to check that next time, definitely don't want to viewers to have to mess with the volume.

It would be better without the annoying off and on and off and on background noise.

Sadly too late to change that, hope you otherwise enjoyed it or took away something though.
