THE VALUE OF THIS VIDEO:
THE MAIN VALUE IS EDUCATION. This reconstruction will be useful for actual or future air traffic controllers and pilots, people who plan to connect life with aviation, who like aviation. With help of this video reconstruction you’ll learn how to use radiotelephony rules, Aviation English language and general English language (for people whose native language is not English) in situation in flight, which was shown. THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVERY WORD AND EVERY MOVE OF AIRCRAFT.
SOURCES OF MATERIAL, LICENSES AND PERMISSIONS:
Source of communications - www.liveatc.net/ (I have a permission (Letter) for commercial use of radio communications from LiveATC.net).
Map, aerial pictures (License (ODbL) ©OpenStreetMap -www.openstreetmap.org/copyrig...) Permission for commercial use, royalty-free use.
Radar screen (In new versions of videos) - Made by author.
Text version of communication - Made by Author.
Video editing - Made by author.
HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

I can't believe they were made to wait for anything. The patient was in critical condition and there's no excuse to delay help one minute longer than necessary. It seems like many people on the ground were unaware of the seriousness of the situation. Hopefully, she was okay. And hopefully, this will not happen again.

I got the feeling that nobody told ground this was a medical emergency as they had him hold short of a runway after landing.

Without knowing the true picture, I wouldn't assume ground was unaware. I'd be more inclined to believe that there was greater reason to hold short than to cross. The glass is always half filled until we know all the facts.

Yeah they could easily have held back the takeoff/landing on 12 to expedite Bahamas. Weird.

Does anyone know if the woman survived? I can’t help thinking that making them hold short of anything during taxiing with an unresponsive patient in a medical emergency was something that should have been avoided by ATC. I know it’s not easy to juggle a lot or aircraft at a busy airport, but in a life threatening situation every possible priority should have been given. If not, maybe sending the ambulance to meet them on Uniform or Tango would have been the far better option. It’s a situation where every second can count.

Sometimes not all airports can quickly accommodate stairs to an aircraft and sometimes wheeling straight off an aircraft into air bridge is easier and little to no lifting or carrying if unresponsive. I agree they should’ve ensured they had a smooth way in not only landing but to the gate with ambulance waiting ready to board. I’ve seen some ATC mess up by not organising paramedics for very clear incidents requiring them and pilots turning up and having to then state they need them. Pilots have a lot to deal with when suddenly changing plans and dealing with the pressure of someone unwell and it therefore an emergency. ATC should dispatch paramedics as standard to any medical emergency. Not wait on pilots to request it.

@@OfficialSamuelC I mentioned it because they didn’t need stairs. The ATR-42 has them built in, as does the ATR-72. It’s 4 stairs so not a problem for paramedics generally. When a patient is unresponsive, you tend to work on them as much as possible where they are before moving them. Any CPR would have been done on the plane and as soon as there’s a sign of a heartbeat, the use of a defibrillator would follow.

@@owenmissick4169 There are 4. I just checked the pictures. I guess you could count the little half step at the bottom a fifth step and as you step over the airframe that can make it up to 6, just for the sake of argument. In truth, it surprised me how low the 42 and 72 actually are. I think they seem higher due to the high wing design.

@@owenmissick4169 There’s a pretty cool thing in all major airports for disabled passengers where you’re driven up to the aircraft in what looks like a box. You enter the aircraft in the opposite side of the plane to any sky ramp or air stairs. It’s about the same size as the catering vehicles. I was just thinking about it and wondering if this would have been the way off for this lady as well. There’s nothing much to it, just space to park 6-8 wheelchairs and then go in through the door caterers have been using. With a taller aircraft in an emergency passenger situation and in an airport without a sky ramp, I guess they’d use this to lower the patient to an ambulance. With the ATR range only being those 6 steps, I’m not sure if they’d go with that or they’d just take their chances with the stairs into the rear of the plane. It’s not something most passengers get to see as it tends to arrive at the aircraft before passengers board, and then tends to make disabled passengers the last ones off. I only learned of this over the past few years because I have to use that system. On a little side note here, but if ever you want to skip the queues at security, befriend someone in a wheelchair being pushed by a porter and get them to say you’re together as you head to security. You get to scoot around everyone. I saved a girl from my flight from queuing because we got talking and staff asked if we were together. I said yes and she got to go to the front with me. It’s those little moments of doing something for a stranger that make me happy.
