Mercedes-Benz X-CLASS Off-Road Test Drive

The 2018-2020 Mercedes X-Class can haul a payload of up to 1.1 tonnes. That's enough to transport 17 full 50-litre barrels of beer in the cargo area, for instance. Able to tow up to 3.5 tonnes, it can also pull a trailer containing three horses or an eight-metre yacht.
There are two powerful and efficient four-cylinder engines to deliver spirited performance. The high-torque common-rail diesel drive system with a displacement of 2.3 litres is available with a choice of two power outputs. In the X 220 d with single turbocharger it generates 120 kW/163 hp and in the biturbo X 250 d no less than 140 kW/190 hp. Both diesel models are available as left- or right-hand drive vehicles with purely rear wheel drive or with engageable all-wheel drive. All engines are characterised by quiet, low-vibration running and excellent power delivery coupled with low consumption figures. Power is transferred via a six-speed manual transmission. A seven-speed automatic transmission is available on request for the 140 kW/190 hp X 250 d and X 250 d 4MATIC models.
A high-torque V6 diesel engine will be released mid-2018, ensuring even greater agility on- and off-road. It will generate 190 kW/258 hp and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. This gives the X 350 d 4MATIC the leading position in the segment. The top X-Class model will come as standard with permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the seven-speed automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC PLUS with steering-wheel shift paddles and ECO start/stop function. The DYNAMIC SELECT system is available in addition.
The European market launch is scheduled for November 2017. At the beginning of 2018 South Africa, Australia and New Zealand will follow, and in early 2019 Argentina and Brazil. In Germany it is available at a price from € 37,294 (incl. 19 percent VAT). The new X-Class can be ordered with immediate effect.

They teamed up with nissan and renault to build this, they only put their branding and internal electronics in it. So the drive quality and the drive assist systems should be pretty well functioning, but if you live in the US you'll never even see one. If they outsell their competitors in the countries they are aimed for, they may bring it to America to compete with our "Big 3" auto companies, but i doubt these will outsell.

Everyone dislikes it, but I think it’s a great idea. Think about it, Mercedes makes very off road capable vehicles (Unimog, G-class, etc) and they make great Diesel engines. Now put them together and make a truck, I think Mercedes can make great pickups. Maybe hopefully they’ll make a 4x4^2 x-class lol

So glad I bought my Silverado. This Mercedes truck has no engine to speak of. America still builds the best trucks that blend power, performance and utility in one neat package and have years of experience and expertise. This is coming from a guy who bought nothing but German for 20 years, before I decided to switch back and I have no regrets. The ride with all seasons on this American made beauty is amazing in itself and is capable of taking me off road to places that match it's power. GM has come a long way and offer luxury and room reminiscent of the great classics. For me it's a win-win at an affordable price.

Great video YOUCAR. Some nice intro music and then the rest of the video is the actual noise the vehicle makes. Nearly impossible to get a good quality video like this with the vehicles engine noise. This merc is bare to the bone with options. It's completely standard, yet it's better than any other pickup truck out there. Yes it's diesel, it will be noisy, merc obviously has petrol options, and maybe even an amg v8. There really isn't much room for design when it comes to a pickup truck so what were you expecting? Nope, the x-class is based on the Nissan Navara/Frontier since the Nissan Renault alliance shares stuff with Mercedes. BMW has stated if Mercedes makes a truck, they’ll make a truck too and since they r already collaborating with Toyota, a BMW truck will be based of the Hilux/Tacoma.

Harambe Jr. it’s for cost savings, the reason why what I stated happens is cuz they are in the same company: FCA, VAG, BMW-Rolls Royce. In this case, while Mercedes and Renault-Nissan aren’t in the same company, they have agreed to collab with each other, for example Renault engines in the lower spec A-class or a Nissan truck as a Mercedes truck. They’ve determined they can save the cost of redesigning special buttons, or infotainment systems, or an entire vehicle and still make money.

This one, I'm sad, Mercedes have made some awesome off-road stuff but this thing just drives on, let's say... My friends back yard. And, they could have made it look like you know, A MERCEDES.
