really enjoyed their sharing! personal pet peeve is when Singaporeans generally use the term 'gynae' when they actually mean 'obstetrician'. a non-pregnant woman might see a gynaecologist (for menstrual issues, contraception, etc.), but if she becomes pregnant and sees the same doctor for pregnancy care, the doctor is now her obstetrician 😉 after delivery, that doctor again becomes the woman's gynaecologist 😄 based on the video, it sounds like Dr Sim focuses more on obstetrics than gynaecology? and indeed people may not realise that even within O&G there are multiple sub-specialties and some doctors might choose to develop their expertise in just one area re: money vs passion. I do think that there's nothing wrong with doctors wanting to have a comfortable lifestyle when they are more senior (and earn more), as long as they genuinely care for patients. after all, as Dr Sim said, that doctor would've been through a lot in their junior years to reach that stage. I think it becomes a problem when aspirants' sole purpose of doing medicine is the money. there are other occupations that can earn the same, if not more, money and for less effort involved. most importantly, if they never had the heart for it to begin with, this may mean they are more likely to burn-out and not treat patients as well as they should be
