It's more of a mix really with the aircraft and ground vehicles closer to ww2 cause we see long 50mm Pz. IIIs at one point and in the movie there are SB2Ms and I-16s.

That's one of the most fascinating aspects of the series: Tanya's inhuman pragmatism is actually a lot less damaging overall than the leaders of the various countries acting out of honor and glory-seeking. She could have ended the war Tanya is "evil" in the classic sense: she is the devil, rebelling against God for selfish reasons. But maybe... she's got a point?

@@noahkarpinski1824 Yes. In a sense her beef with God reminds me of the poem Paradise Lost where the Devil and his fellow fallen angels are not simple villains and were humanized. I think if we consider Tanya's character growth we'll probably witness her forming if not a conscience but at least a humane and empathic side. I think the issue will be that as she is growing as a person she will also grow as a menace, dealing more and more damage to the world for the sake of her spite against God and her epic goal of a cushy desk job. In the end she'll have a choice to either embrace the humane person she is growing into be or her savage bloodlust and fully embrace her brutality and become war incarnate. To be honest what God is trying to teach her is that rationalism does not exclude faith but can strengthen it and vice versa. I think God has seen the potential of Tanya analogous with humanity's potential, hence why she is so important to God. This is not some petty rivalry but God trying to salvage her and through her humanity itself. Funnily enough we are witnessing the birth of a saint. *A war criminal saint!* I have a sinking feeling this series will be brutally heart-wrenching at the end. I love this story, so thought-provoking!

Tanya's speech, especially the "Oh dearest lord" scene was better in Japanese, but when she snaps I honestly prefer the English version, didn't like the Japanese voice acting as much. I know (s)he's a psychotic kid, and all but I don't think that voice suited her/him (Gender confusion O_o).

This is likely because it's easier to control a state of happy citizens than hateful citizens. Also tragically why they created many scapegoats as well to focus people's problems on. This actually lead to an insane sense of national unity in Germany in the span of less than a decade without generations of citizens having to be brain washed. Literally unseen at that time. The ideology was heavily flawed, but surprisingly effective at making a people "That" were not exactly better off but would feel like they were, which in the end is all that really matters when it comes to happiness. Sadly for Germany though, the concepts of Antisemitism was very high as the Nazi regime itself believed in a Jewish Communist world take over theory, which ya we know what that ended up causing. Which isn't a flaw in Fascism itself, just the specific Political Party that ruled Germany and the men ruling it. That being said, other nations "since" have pulled off similar miracle without fascism, but most of which are small, low populated nations with no military or political power, ie no worries, no stress on the world stage. Denmark, Switzerland being very good examples of this, they just stay out of the world stage politically, and despite having insanely high taxes people in those two countries are some of the happiest in the world, it's all part of national unity, national moral, providing security, and a high enough quality of life for the average citizen so few are in poverty.

Having recently rewatched season 1 (still waiting on the movie's DVD), it is clear to me that, whatever Being X is, he isn't God. Think about it. Would God put millions and millions of innocent people through so much suffering just to change the faith of ONE non-believer? No, he would not, but Being X not only keeps doing so, when he made that corpse smile sadistically at Tanya, he was clearly enjoying it. My guess is Being X is someone who works FOR God, but isn't actually God and he took Tanya's lack of faith in God as a personal insult and then got WAY too carried away with it. I'll bet that's even why Tanya had so much magical potential, God noticed what Being X was doing and, while unable to do too much, gave Tanya her magical potential as a way to give her a fighting chance against Being X's morbid plans
