Zheng He Hui Zim, who plays the FL in the first 2 episodes hooked me to this series. Especially her chemistry with the ML. The character’s intelligence, kindness, and vulnerability was portrayed in a relatable way. So when another actress came in to play the role for the rest of the drama, my interest for the drama was affected. Personally, this drama demonstrated how much an actor could effect a character and story’s tone. Previously I downplayed actor’s’ importance. That one can easily switch another’s place when it came to these dramas. However, Zheng He Hui Zi made me realize that each these actors are unique and bring so much with them to these roles. I look forward to her next role. Hopefully she leads a drama and Liu Xue Yi will lead it beside her. Full applause to the cast and crew for bringing this story to life.

Totally agree with you, that actors plays a very important role in a film. If you switch them, it causes a kind of loss and you can't always connect with the new actress, without judgement on her acting of course.it's just human nature, that we can't identify with a new actor representing the same character in the film. That being said, I like the first actress, because she is very natural.

Came for the story, stayed for the plot! In Blossom is a totally great drama to me. I've been a fan of Chinese costume dramas and this drama blew my mind away. The plot and story are great. The actors? well I've been a fan of Lue Xue Yi since Ancient Love Poetry, gosh! he is immaculately handsome and his expressions are top notch! glad to see that this drama is doing well and became one of the most successful Youku's drama in the first quarter of 2024. His chemistry with Ju Jingyi was also great. Still hoping for S2 after watching the ending. Fingers crossed!

Such a beautiful drama, with super cast, costumes, story, and wonderful osts, i listened to these osts dozens of times. First I must say that Zheng Hehuizi as Yang Caiwei was amazing, it also could have been an interesting story with her as FL, despite having a scar on her face accepts who she is and overcomes difficult moments together with Pan Yue, loving her no matter how she looks. Ju Jingyi was stunning especially when she acted as ShangguanZhi in the beginning, it was so good, petition for a drama with JJY as villain😍 Later you will also love her when she acts as YCW, perfect script for a perfect actress!!! Liu Xueyi acting was marvellous, his chemistry with both FL is on fire🔥🔥, you cant ask for more!, and his costumes are jaw-dropping!! Congrats all cast!🎉

His father’s name is the same and there’s the scene where the people throw fruits into his carriage, which is recorded to have actually happened. Also in one scene he says a poem which Pan Yue wrote in real life after his wife died. Also the real Pan Yue also never married again. There are quite a few subtle alludes, but they don’t keep it up for the whole show

Though I am relatively new to C-dramas ( I Have only viewed approximately 30; most being Costume Period productions), I am very critical of all dramas especially character development & chemistry within acting. "In Blossom" (for what it is) blew my mind away. Exceptional in every way. Yes it could be improved. The pacing, mystery & intrigue kept me guessing. The light heart-ed moments & laughter shared between loyal friends, mixed within some very gut wrenching tearful sad events, in all was an emotional roller coaster; a pure joy to watch. In my humble opinion, "In Blossom" is a 10/10! It also boasts a moving sound track with poetic, thought provoking lyrics. Sadly there exist (on various social media platforms) a lot of toxicity & jealous hatred spread among younger immature viewers directed towards the actress Ju Jing Yi. Of course you are free to share your opinion. I often can't help but notice that many of these posters, either through profile or through written expression appear to manifest unrefined taste or possess life experience. Many are just plain mean spirited for no good. Can you perform any better? Do you posses any life accomplishments? This gorgeous actress did an exceptional job and performed well within the parameters of her personal character design & the over all theme & style of this drama. Watch episode 25 for a taste of her ability and versatility. Its childish, catty and demonstrates a profound lack of integrity to negatively attack a talented, hard working, attractive woman out of jealousy & pure spite or compare her with another actress (or to the first one). How would you enjoy receiving such judgemental words? Words are power. You can use them to build one another up or tear individuals down. Besides... You are missing the point of the drama. Is not true beauty a consistent loving, devoted mind-set and daily decision in life? Opinions rooted in bitterness, spite, cowardness and naive judgment can not share the same space with true beauty.

The storyline gets better and better; FL had many business ideas and became rich. Hua family got their estate back. The rest of the Hua's family returned to the city. In the end, their good deeds had good fruits. The selfish emperor finally died, and FL and ML got married; I think what's really cool is that their grandmothers were best friends. I wish they would get rid of the ending theme song and change the English title.

This is the first time I'm watching Ju Jingyi, though I've heard a lot of negativity regarding her acting ability. Because of that, I was expecting horrible acting, but my conclusion, so far after 8 episodes, is that she's not nearly as horrible as some are making her out to be. She can continue to improve and to become more versatile, obviously, but she's no worse than the actress who played her in the first two episodes. They just come off as kind of different in terms of personality. The character played by the first actress came off as more serious and an introvert, while the character became more light-hearted, cheerful, and even a bit comedic at times once Ju Jingyi stepped into the role. I also saw some saying that there was more chemistry between the ML and the first actress, and I couldn't disagree more. I couldn't feel any chemistry. In fact, I thought they were quite boring together. Once Ju Jingyi stepped in, I thought the character dynamics between the two leads actually became much more interesting. The slight shift to a more spirited, lively, warmer personality brought on by Ju Jingyi worked better against the cold, aloof ML character, not to also mention that I also thought they became more compatible in terms of physical appearances. I think the first actress who played the female lead character looked older than the ML.

I don't think I'll watch past episode 2. I was so excited till Ju Jing Yi took over the lead. Zheng He Hui Zi's interpretation of the character was 10 times better. Her interpretation and the chemistry between her and Liu Xue Yi was what hooked me in. Ju Jing Yi taking over the lead was what unhooked me and I stopped watching. Just couldn't stomach another one-dimensional acting piece from her.

I agree!! Making the fl ultimately into a cliche flawless beauty is not the character of the original fl. Having the scar is a major part of who she is. Too bad the directors and producers felt they needed this second “more well-known” actress to play the ultimate fl. I believe the original fl would have rocked the character all the way through this series. It would have been better to give her back her original face at the end because he loved the whole package.

@@5877user Agree. A potentially good series was made mediocre. I think they shouldn't have changed FL away from Zheng He Hui Zi. They could've easily put on really heavy make up to change her appearance with the scar and have her portray both Shangguan Zhi and Yang Cai Wei, to accommodate lookism issues with some of their audiences. The body language was way better from her than the cutesy misportrayal from episode 3 onwards of the replacement FL. I tried to give benefit of doubt, but ended up fast forwarding through Ju Jing Yi's section to the point it was no longer worth watching even for Liu Xue Yi's parts. I am still in disbelief she got the FL, when I recall scenes from A Class of Her Own. Only a blind, deaf and dumb person would believe her disguise in that series. I've seen other actresses portray similar roles where they weren't hung up on looking pretty and actually acted suitable to the story. Too late. I heard there was a drop in viewership after the change. Shows audiences value quality rather than lookism based casting.

ok so i’m looking forward to this MLs new drama .. he’s a very established actor and i’ve loved all his work so far .. however i’m not a mega fan of FL .. and i doubt there will be a kiss scene because of this FL ..but will watch because of the ML alone anyway

If Ju Jingyi could kiss properly, she would be top actress in China. I've seen many actresses get more traffic than her just doing the kissing scene right despite not performing particularly well. Ju Jingyi's acting has improved a lot.

@@Miona_ i couldn’t watch sword and fairy 4 because she’s was so bad .. she’s been acting since 2015 .. she should have improved much better than she was in sword and fairy 4 .. opposite this ML Liu Xue Yi she might improve as he is a very experienced actor and could help her with some acting skills … but i will watch anyway because of the ML ..
