Thank you for honoring the Great Wayne Shorter; he was indeed one of another kind.

Wayne is the reason I started writing music. I played for 14 years and never tried to write until I heard Wayne for the first time. Truly one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the earth

Thanks for this. Not just a great musician, but arguably the greatest jazz composer since Monk. He's in the top 3 in my book: Ellington, Monk, Shorter. RIP maestro. Thank you for all you have given us.

I used to listen to Jumping with Symphony Sid Friday nights on the radio at late night back in the sixties in Jersey! They would broadcast live from Birdland in NYC! Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and other groups could be heard over the years with Symphony Sid as MC. At that time Wayne Shorter was with Blakey, Walton, Hubbard, Fuller, and Jymie Merritt. Wonderful musicians!!

Fantastic tribute to the late, great Maestro Wayne Shorter and the SGQ. These Jazz titans were “One-Of-One” and many of us are so lucky to have shared a space on earth with these musical geniuses.

3:57 to 4:20 - yes, I hear you there. Wayne's creativity will continue to inspire musicians, what a great gift. Sweet Pea and Vonetta are particular favourites.

Taking music and musical instruments out of grade school across the country sabotaged would be musicians that would've made great contributions to composition and improvisation. The other foot dropped when labels began promoting strictly gangsta rap, sealing the fate for countless children everywhere. It's nice seeing people celebrate the giants of what is called jazz. Maybe we can undo some of the damage.

To me, the great thing about Wayne Shorter as a composer was that all the albums he recorded for Blue Note were completely different from each other. As a saxophonist he was just incredible.

I think Ron is trying to preserve some mystic about the music - Herbie has said in interviews that him, Ron and Tony would often go out to a diner or something after the gig and talk extensively about the music, what happened that night and other ideas to try out i.e. "what happens if you play this chord while I play this note" etc.
