Well, i think Brad Pitt pulled off an oscar worthy performance here though. It is very hard to pick out any one of them to like more than others tbh. My favourite scenes are the conversations between Sol and the gang though. I mean, no matter how many times you've seen the movie, it always cracks you up. The accent, different types of slangs, facial expressions, just gold.

You'll notice at 10:20 that Lennie James (the actor on the right getting attacked by the dog) looks straight into the camera for a second. He was trying to figure out what to do because the dog was attacking him for real. Apparently the dog was a real jerk the entire shoot and was constantly attacking Lennie James and doing things he wasn't supposed to.

Thing about Jason Statham is he didn’t become action guy until a couple years after this with The Transporter. Before that he did these kind of comedy roles in Guy Ritchie. Am I the only one who feels like it's a watered down version of the really good films he used to make? I couldn't watch it with out thinking "it's a bit like snatch and lock stock but no where as good". Sorry to be a buzz kill but in my opinion I'd rather see them react to better things.

@@NeilLewis77 Nothing wrong if that's the way you feel. I personally don't agree but I can see how someone might feel that way. I think for me it's more about enjoying the fact that Guy Ritchie seems to be getting back into his own bag. For a while it seemed like he was really trying to distance himself from the style he was known from. And for me, "The Gentleman" feels like him embracing that style and was still planning to continue to grow so he doesn't get pigeonholed.

@@brandyanderson3522 ye that's the problem, 20 years ago he said he didn't want to do another guns and geezer film. Then after his Madonna film flopped he went straight back and made revolver. A guns and geezers film that was awful. Then a few years later he makes the rubbish snatch rip off called rock-an-roller. Then a few years later it's the gentleman. 20 years since snatch and he's not grown or improved as a film maker. Instead he's making guns and geezer films that just arnt as good. Need to have a shite became my wake up words for a few years. My partner of the time hated it but always made me smile. I think this is my favourite Guy Richie film. After living in Ireland for a long time its weird to not need subtitles at any stage. Great fun film that I will be digging out again for another watch. Keep up the great work folks. This was absolutely my introduction to heist films, Jason Statham, and British films! (Although this is technically British-American.) I wasn't aware of Ocean's Eleven (1960 and 2001) until afterwards. They're very different, but I feel like this is the darker, grimier, and unglamorous take on that dynamic. I prefer this cast, but I think it's ironic that Brad Pitt starred in both. 👌👌👌

You could say British, American and Russian if you're talking about characters, but as Guy Ritchie is English and he wrote and directed Snatch its basically just English.

@@OblivionGate Right! I recalled it as a British film, but then I saw the classification of "British-American" when I looked it up. It mentioned the film being a collaboration between the US and UK. I think that might be because of the production companies and distributors involved.

Hey Chris, I have heard of Kalifornia.! Yes, it is definitely in contention for the most ugly Brad Pitt has ever been in a film. Great movie as well but, I was trying to combine what I thought was his best acting as well as un-glam. I gave you a thumbs up for reminding me of that flick. Might have to pick it for the Mrs. soon.

@@Marina_in_oz I thought of that first but when it comes to "unglamorous" I must say that Kalifornia takes the kake. He is quite disgusting in that one, both the personality and his over all manners. Long time since I watched it and it might be because he was so disgusting in it. And that's probably why people have forgotten it. It's not a bad movie.

@@chrissibersky4617 Gotta remember this was a 'personal choice'. Everyone has a preference. Fight Club he was a disgusting fuck. 12 Monkeys he was a disgusting fuck and Kalifornia the same... This one was my choice.! All are valid choices and I appreciate them all.!!

I really like the three bankrobbers but Tommy is my favorite. The actor has range too. He plays very small and meek in this movie and in another movie he plays a mean intimidating skinhead.

Fun Fact: Growing up Jason Statham's father had a stall at what you would call a "flea market" selling bootleg & stolen merchandise & would regularly have a young Jason help him work the stall. Wanting to break the cycle as it were Statham got really into sports, at School he infact was friends and football team mates with Vinnie Jones (Bullet-Tooth Tony) & he excelled especially at diving eventually competing for England at the Commonwealth Games. From there he went into modelling whereby he was reintroduced to Vinnie Jones & met Guy Ritchie who was preparing to shoot his first movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels... When he learned of Stathams upbringing he gave him his first role: Bacon - A loveable rouge selling stolen items out of a suitcase at the flea market. so in away despite not wanting to follow his fathers footsteps it was his fathers unsavory career which launched Stathams movie career.
