I love the comment Otho makes about people who "off themselves" becoming civil servants in the afterlife. It makes so much sense and adds details about the different people we see working there. The desk clerk mentioned her "little accident" when she showed her wrists, some of the others you can kinda guess like the roadkill guy probably stepped into oncoming traffic, Juno probably cut her own throat and the guy hanging from the noose swinging through the office is pretty self explanatory. Not many reactors pick up on that. Glad you guys did👍

I've explained this in the comments of a few other channels, I only contribute this to the ones I like most. In the scene where Lydia unleashes Betelgeuse to help the Maitlands...there's a shot where he gets Otho, and changes his clothes to that polyester blue outfit. It's a funny joke on it's own, but if you notice there is a little jingle that comes with that scene...it's a Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Easter Egg. In Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (1985), there's a character named Francis, an overweight, man-child that is Pee-Wee's nemesis...in the film he's wearing that very blue polyester outfit. The actor who plays Otho looks quite a bit like the actor who played Francis...so much so, for the longest time I thought they were played by the same actor, I only recently discovered my error. Anyway...Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was Tim Burton's first feature film as director, Beetlejuice was his 2nd feature film.

The spider at the end of the opening credits is a type of wolf spider. Their pretty harmless and docile, just kinda big for a common American house spider.

I think Michael Keaton’s first non TV gig was Ron Howard’s first movie “Night Shift” - a very funny movie.

Beetlejuice cartoon FTW!!! One of my absolute favorite Saturday cartoons growing up.

The continuity of the cartoon is that the first episode of the cartoon is their one year anniversary and they are "best friends" BUT there are several departures you can see a ring on Lydis's hand and fans have said that Lydis often seems like Beetlejuice's "love interest" and the writers have said "that is intentional"

This has become one of my favorite movie reactions from you guys. This was so much fun to watch. I was quoting the movie the whole time as you guys reacted to it. I will say, watching you guys react to this now makes me want to go and watch it again. Such a fun movie. And yes. Definitely recommend checking out the sequel. I just saw it last Sunday with my oldest brother, and I love it. I won't spoil anything, but I will say, it was so cool hearing the Beetlejuice theme in the theater. Not to mention, they still used practical effects in the sequel. That was one of my favorite things about the sequel. Like I said, definitively recommend going to see the sequel. Hope you guys have an awesome week.

The ring on the finger actually plays into the second movie, you'll see when you watch it. Saw the sequel a couple weeks back. For Mrs. Movies, the Wednesday character is Jenna Ortega, Lydia's daughter in the second film. And that is all I will tell you about the second film, you MUST see it for yourselves.

"he had hair down to his goddamn shoulders . . " As an adult, this is my favorite line in the movie. It's like looking into my future. This movie came out when I was in first grade. In the first grade, it was THE movie of the year. Next year, it was _Batman._ "Otho's wife." lol

One thing i just realized from this movie is while the Maitlands were in the afterlife waiting room, Juno says they were waiting there for 3 months. In those 3 months you mean to say the family never thought about opening the attic door? Knowing they didn't have a key they didn't try to knock it down? The mom was knocking down and adding sections to the house but the attic door mustve bee to strong to knock down XD

Ed Wood is another brilliant Tim Burton flick. It's the biopic of Edward D Wood, Jr, who had the unofficial title of Worst Movie Director Of All Time. He made very low budget monster movies in the 50s and 60s, even recruiting his idol Bela Lugosi in his last years to star in a few. Johnny Depp, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bill Murray and Martin Landau are all outstanding.

Exactly like the star, that's why his name spelled the same as the star in that ad in the movie. That's how the writers wrote his name but when it came to using it as the title they changed the spelling to make it easier for people to pronounce it.

The title wasn't supposed to refer to Keaton's character. It was just supposed to be a weird sentiment because the movie is strange.

"The movie's PG!" "An 80s PG." Actually, it's PG-13. Michael Keaton was allowed one f-bomb, & he f***in' used it right!
@ConstantineFurman
@ConstantineFurman Ай бұрын
I just checked the back of my DVD and it says "PG." Google says same. And Betelgeuse drops two f-bombs in the movie but the second one is muddled. When Adam and Barbara show up with their scary faces to stop Lydia from saying "Betelgeuse" a third time, Betelgeuse can be heard shouting "Fuck you! Say itttttt!!!" before he falls over.

@@ConstantineFurman I just checked IMDB. I stand corrected. It was re-rated in several countries and TV airings rate it TV-14, but it is still PG here.

That guy you can see through the window behind the Maitlands in Juno’s office looks like he could perhaps be John Belushi in his Jake Blues outfit. That would be two ghost roles for him, counting Slimer. Pretty decent for a posthumous career. The living usually won’t hire the dead.
