Sorry, but I have to share this story that my uncle told me years ago. My grandpa took him to see this movie when it was in the theaters, but my grandfather was known for falling asleep during movies, which he did, but he woke up just as the shark was charging at the camera in the scene where he breaks through the glass of the underwater control room. He freaked the hell out, and jumped out of his seat screaming, and scared the shit out of everyone else in the theater.

In case some people were not fully aware of what is happening with Phillip in his death scene, the idea was that the filtration pipe is pumping out millions of gallons of water and as such, Philip needed the rope to get through it, while the shark cannot swim fast enough to get to him. As the rope breaks (you can see he is like two feet away from the ladder) he is being pushed towards the shark and eventually into its mouth and cannot get out. Scary idea, jut not well executed.

Jaws 3 would have taken place 9 years later in 1986, as Sean is a freshman in college and would most likely be 19. Mike would be 25. The actor who plays Philip FitzRoyce was played by the late great Simon MacCorkindale (1952-2010) a fairly well-known British character actor who appeared in several American TV series most notable being on Falcon Crest from 1984 to 1986 playing the character of Greg Reardon. His friend Jack Tate was played by P.H. Altho CROWNS (and FRANKENSTEIN) came with those old (anaglyph) cardboard glasses and a separate option to view it that way for those without a (polarized) 3D display. But anaglyph looks like crap in comparison. Me, I have a 55" panel set with 3D and a 4K/3D 100" display. It's great! I'll never go just flat again. Great whites are a species that migrated long distances. So they think it could have something to do with that but there are other species that migrated long distances and do fine. Another issue is a lot of the sharks do not feed in captivity. Whether it be from stress or the fact that they're used to hunting. They end up only feeding on other sharks or things in the tank from what I've read. But another hypothesis is whatever they use to migrate long distances and return, seems to in captivity, go haywire and they end up just swimming right into the walls. They're not used to having any types of restrictions and don't seem to adapt well to it.

The first FX crew was fired and replaced by an even worse one! The first company did not complete most of the FX and then the second company desperately rushed to finish what they could, but Universal did not give either company the proper time to finish their work and some of the FX shots in the movie are unfinished.

I saw this in the theater when it came out. I still don't think I've ever been more disappointed in a movie.

Personally, I love this movie & don't mind admitting that it's my favourite of the franchise 🙂

It's my favorite bad movie of all time. I remember my mom letting me rent it at Blockbuster on VHS back in the day. It's a guilty pleasure, to say the least. Enjoy.

FYI: Killer Whales are actually part of the Dolphin family. REFERENCE: Jacques Yves Cousteau.

@@fmellish71 The killer whale moniker is what gaslights people into thinking they are whales . Orcas are the largest members of the dolphin family. You can verify this yourself if you wish.

I Saw this one more than all the others combined. It was ALWAYS on HBO and Cinemax. Then, of course, we also recorded it off HBO with our VHS VCR. 😂 Even then, it was obvious the effects weren't the best, but I didn't care. I still watched the hell out of it.

I remember how we learned to do that 3D text in art class and everyone had it on their notebooks cause it was so cool. 😂

I appreciate the Sea World setting of the film and momma shark twist but it despite being promoted as immersing in the 3rd dimension it didn’t break any new dimensions

That TWIST was actually ripped off from another movie called Gorgo (from 1961).

Saw this the night it opened. We couldn’t believe all the Cussing…by Everybody else in the theater. It was playing next door to Smoky and the Bandit 3, I think
