Tired of others who ask for membership money, then 6 months later have the all new $$$$$ home or new land. Funds and donations actually go for very worthy causes, near and dear to our heart. It's funny. My career was spent as a battery engineer. I literally worked on batteries for 25 years. On a recent forum, the exact question you asked regarding "What is the best battery?" was asked. As you discussed, several questions centered upon new RV choices, I thought I would recommend the ESCAPEES Boot Camp for those new to the RV experience. We did that immediately after buying our Class A and walked away knowing far more than we expected. We highly recommend the event. There are plenty of presentations and, even more fun, there is a lot of time to discuss questions with others. Another fun and informative video Phil and Stacy. We've had our 2014 Tiffin 33aa for 16 months now and have enjoyed having it for the simple home convenience when traveling so you don't have to find someplace to pee every three hours. Also getting lunch to eat or a coffee or something while on the road is real nice. We also enjoy knowing who slept in the bed we use. We also do not like laundromats. Our grand daughters mom enjoys using the RV when they come to visit. She can work from it away from the main house in quiet. Phil I love your water system hose end quick connects. Where can I find those?
For many summers now, we have been exploring Canada in a class B. It is set up with solar power only and a webasto heater. It suits our needs for the way we like to travel and explore. We use your famous line: Today is someday; every time someone mentions that they are planning to buy a RV and travel someday. We also always recommend to first define how they are planning to travel and explore because it will help them figure out what RV to purchase. Lastly we suggest that they rent a RV for a few weeks before making their final decision. Cheers and thank you for all your videos.

We have an instant hot water heater in our travel trailer. It feeds both the kitchen and the bathroom. The 10 feet the water has to travel from the heater to the faucet or shower makes it enormously inefficient. No matter if you are boondocking or hooked up to water and sewer, if you are at all water conscious it is unusable. We are back to heating water on the stove to wash dishes and showering at the shared bath house. If the heater is at the location you are using hot water it could probably work. Otherwise buyer beware - It's a NO GO!

Regarding sanitizing the fresh water tank. Our 2004 Tiffin Allegro Bus doesn’t have a gravity fill inlet. We only have the city water/tank fill connection in the wet bay. Any suggestions for getting the bleach mixture into the tank? TIA
@todayissomeday13 күн бұрын
It will have to be introduced via the water pump. Ours came with a smaller hose attached to the pump to use in those instances. There should be a process description in the owners manual I would think.
@sissinoklahoma205713 күн бұрын
Not who you asked, however, if you go to the garden center at a box store, you can find nutrient feeder bottles for a hosepipe fitting. It's a bottle with an inlet for the hose, then an outlet. There are two kinds of outlets so verify which you're looking at, one is a sprinkler outlet so it's a handheld nozzle basically. The one you need has another hosepipe fitting and usually will be called an "in-line" feeder. It pulls an adjustable amount of product out of the canister and difuses it through the outlet. You could easily put bleach in there. You WILL have to replace grommets fairly often because the bleach deteriorates rubber quickly.

We're in the planning stage, approximately 2 years from retiring. Leaning towards a super C Renegade, Dynamax, Tiffin or used Newmar. Support after the sale is number one for me. How much should we expect from the dealer and how much from the manufacturer? Should I expect to have to go to the factory to get something fixed the dealer cant do? I see stories on youtube about folks making repeated trips to the manufacturers for repairs. Seems like a major pain.
@todayissomeday13 күн бұрын
Repairs can be a major pain anywhere you take it. For us, we have never been back to our dealer. We always take it back to Red Bay. I know it sounds weird, but the know the rigs, they have the parts, and we have found they are cheaper than most place that "fix" RV's. So for us, it works.
@TC-nn7xk6 күн бұрын
We were on the Super C path and ended up with a 5th wheel and F-450. Both setups are comparable in cost. Build quality, warranty and features were better on the truck, and almost any dealership can service it. If you plan to finance some of balance, buy the RV cash and only finance the truck. Auto rates are much better than RV rates. In most cases you're towing something either way. Exit plan can also be a factor. A stand alone diesel truck isn't really impacted by the RV market volatility and they tend to hold their value better. Either way enjoy!

Another excellent TIS video! For the 50th question about continuous hot water, there are essentially two options: a "tank-less" water heater and hydronic heating: 1 - "tank-less" water heaters will give you continuous ("endless") hot water and can generally be installed as a replacement to a standard tank type heater, but they have some limitations: a. They are only propane...NO electric. This means that you must have propane in your rig in order to use a tank-less heater. Also, you will have to use the propane even if you have full electric hookups. b. They can use quite a bit of propane so they are probably not the best idea for people who want to do a lot of dry camping/boon-docking. 2 - Hydronic heating is an option for some (mostly higher-end) class-A RVs that acts as both the water heater and the primary interior heating system (the RV may also come with heat pumps in the A/C units, but when it gets below about 43 degrees, you will need the primary heater). Hydronic heating comes from manufacturers like Aqua-Hot and Oasis and is a system that will run off of the diesel fuel from your RV's fuel tank so, as long as you have more than a quarter tank of fuel (it cuts off there to keep you from accidentally running your "driving" fuel too low), you can have endless hot water. Every hydronic system I have ever seen also has some ability to run on electricity, but at a, usually seriously, reduced capacity (NOT endless). The electric capacity varies as most have a single heating element and some have duals, but the general rule is that the electric will get you through one quick "Navy" shower after it completely heats or will cover general hot water needs for dish washing, but that's about it...beyond that and to have the "endless" hot water, you will need to use the diesel burner. There are a few other caveats about hydronic a. It ain't cheap. The add-on price for hydronic heating (if it's an option) is usually in excess of $10K. b. It is higher maintenance. Other than replacing the anode rod when needed, most tank and tank-less heaters are pretty low maintenance (replace said anode rod when needed and drain between uses). Hydronic systems generally require yearly maintenance with a fairly inexpensive maintenance kit to keep them running properly. If you are handy, you can do it yourself and it's not a real expense...but if you have it done, it will likely set you back a couple hundred (based on Jan 2025 dollars). c. It is not something you can add aftermarket...unless you have a LOT of extra cash. These systems are like an octopus; they have a central heater and heating lines going all over the RV with little radiators and fans at each register. Getting a system added to an existing RV is generally cost prohibitive, so you have to either buy a new RV with the option or get a used RV that already has it.
@todayissomeday13 күн бұрын
I'm going to have to look into those hydronic systems, sounds interesting.
@sissinoklahoma205713 күн бұрын
So nice of you to get that information out there! It took me a good week of research to finally nail down the fact that tankless water heaters are never electric. Why? Because all of the ads show electric, but that is only because of the electric igniter used. Very frustrating time as we needed to make a decision as our original tank was no longer heating. Finally decided to stay with the electric water heater we already had and just replaced the control panel which fixed the issue.
@brucealexander902413 күн бұрын
@@sissinoklahoma2057 Probably a good choice. The tank-less are great IF you have plenty of propane, which, itself, is not cheap.
