Nick True's 'Ynab for beginners' video is what helped me stick with YNAB. I needed that 30 minute video to show me as much about YNAB it could to show me it would be worth it to learn and stick with it.

Nick True is the reason I stuck with YNAB the first time. Credit cards were a mystery until I watched his video! Then I went and took the YNAB classes and the rest is history!

Same. I abandoned YNAB halfway through my 34-day trial because I was confused but eventually figured I'd look up KZbin videos for a tutorial, and Nick's intro video made it super clear and changed everything for me. Now I am a true YNAB nerd. So nice of YNAB to invite him for a video!!

Nick's video on credit cards sold me on YNAB as a platform. I was in the constant battle with overspending on credit cards just because of an unawareness of what my my money was doing. The fact that YNAB moves money from categories into the credit payment category automated what i had been trying to do manually. Just that aspect makes the $7.64 I squirrel away every month for it absolutely worth it.

Nick and Hanna are a great team. Highly suggest all of their content. Thanks Jesse, YNAB and Budget Nerds for bring on one of the best! Nick is a true teacher, thank you Nick for taking the fear out of finances, making it real, and most of all being the reason we live by YNAB. Yes, it works and the peace of mind, once you get through the learning curve and break the old way of thinking, is worth it 100x over.

Nick was the reason I even signed up to YNAB in the first place. I had tried multiple online apps and kept going back to my trusty spreadsheet but it was more forecasting and tracking than zero based budgeting (and budgeting with last month's income). Saw some videos of YNAB with Nick and it convinced me to do the trial (particularly with credit card functionality and the reports; so much easier than excel!). After 6 weeks, I was sold. Still go back to Nick's videos now a year in for those random one-off things like refunds etc. Thanks Nick! Love the podcast with Hanna too.

I saw a lot of budgeters using YNAB on KZbin and I just didn't get it, but then I stumbled across a bunch of Nick's videos in early 2020 and it finally started to click for me. After going through pretty much all of his channel, I finally tried it and immediately loved it because it made so much sense.

I enjoyed the appearance of the cat, especially just the cat's tail! Great to continue Budget Nerds with Nick True - cheers guys! Nick's post-paycheck to paycheck jazzing up of category groups is something I've been thinking about. Not specifically category revitalising, but for those of us that do not live paycheck to paycheck, that feel relatively comfortable with ynab, and are settled with their finances (for now!); I've been thinking, what's next? Perhaps something that could be discussed or chatted about in a future video?

When YNAB released the ‘move money HISTORY’ feature, I’m pretty sure that might break my budget account. Seem like they’re gonna need 50TB upgrade just for me (just for my 34 days of history)! 😛 I love the move money feature! But the smarts of the ‘search functionality’ is hands down my favourite for when you dive into the weeds. 💕 Rule 2 (True expenses) - for me is the secret sauce to keeping out of debt. I’ve always had an aversion to debt and never, never got into any consumer debt of any, any kind. But, the realisation of what Rule 2 does is never lost on me (even thought I may find that forced discipline essential to my habits).

I vaguely remember quicken back when it was a thing. I was never good with computers, at least until my 40s lol . I tried a few apps in thr past. Never really liked them. Just in December, I asked someone I knew what budgeting app did he use? So they did a referral link to me to a trial. My trial ends soon, and I have the $ budgeted for the annual suscription already 😆, in my "Yearly subscriptions" category. I did not give up with this one even though I messed up twice. Because I just kept going back to their tutorials they offered in app and on you tube. That made a big difference along with some things I figured out just from playing around with the app.

I’m so glad to hear that I’ll finally be able to track when I move money. That’s the only thing about YNAB that I don’t like. I come from a financial work background and not being able to track that really bothered me so much that I never liked to use that feature.

Does YNAB have any plans for something like labels or tags for transactions? It would really help the reports be more useful. Right now I find they cant get me the data I really want. A great example is Nicks use of multiple eating out categories related to value/intentions. I would love to have a tag for "Health" and "Relationships" and "Convenience" so I could see within my eating out category why I spent that money in that category, along with the ability to see across multiple categories all of my "Health" spending.
