I have a friend in Manila and she is a pediatric nurse. She stopped nursing and got a job as a manager for SM. The manager job pays more so she has not gone back to nursing.

I am familiar with shyness. I was painfully shy when I was a kid. I still am somewhat shy but learned how to come out of my shell as an adult. I prefer starting out in an LDR, in a way too. My Filipina girlfriend isn’t shy, but her teenage daughter is shy. Being shy is a good thing because it keeps you out of trouble and a bad thing because it makes it difficult to socialize.

Bless her what a sweetie😊 She's like a mini Mae. What you see is what you get. Buy her a new broom and a rice cooker for a gift and she'd be delighted. It's hard to judge from a short interview but she comes across as a "traditional filipina" Let's call her focused and level headed. Unusually for someone so young she knows what she wants and is focused. Nursing as you point out is a good choice. It presents opportunities that are viable not just in the Philippines. Her teeth are fixable and no big deal but true beauty comes from within and Andrea seems to project besuty in her attitude and demeanour. I hope she realises her ambitions and meets someone who can appreciate her kind nature. Interesting interview.😊

I have experienced something like this interview. What I needed was the "English to English' translation in order to understand what is going on during a manufacturing operation. Well, it is slow but all worked out. As for working, that will help with the shyness. Sometimes when you are forced to talk through a job, you get use to talking to people. Good luck to Andrea.

I grew up in a family of nurses. My Grandmother, Mother, Aunt… and now my niece and my daughter. It’s a fantastic profession that is rewarding in many ways. I’m 56yo and with the help of God and the economy, I hope to retire within the next year or so. The more that I see of the Philippines, the more I want to come to Dumaguete. I have spent so much time in Thailand that I feel the need to venture out and experience new wonders. Very beautiful young lady. I can definitely relate; I used to hate smiling because of the condition of my teeth. Mine were detoriating from the inside out. I finally got all of mine pulled and got dentures. I would be more than happy to talk to her and help her develop her English. I have spoken with other Filipino young ladies who spoke Tagalog and Cebuano and helped them develop their English.

Great interview with Andrea it was so nice to learn a little more about her. She is one of my favorites on Baby Maes channel such a wonderful personality, demeanor, bubbly and funny at times. Like many others have said she has good core values and those eyes..... just beautiful. Paul I have a story that might make you laugh and maybe some of the readers. I play a game called Second-Life. I have many friends in that game and yes some are from the Philippines. So a friend from the Philippines and I were chatting and she said OMG I am so hungry. I said well we have been chatting for over 12 hours so go eat. She said I wish but we have nothing to eat yet . I said well what do you mean yet. She said she has to wait for her dad to come home to see if he made money. I said well when is that going to be she said she has no idea. She said she wasn't hungry until a lady set up her food stand by her house. I asked is the lady selling chicken lips and fish feet and the girl laughed said maybe. I asked how much would it cost to buy something to feed her and she said 200. I talked her into giving me her info so I could send her 200. I told her the money is waiting for her. She came back and was scared saying OMG I can't take this. I said why you said you need it to eat? She said no 200 peso's not 10,000 peso's I said huh what ? Then I started laughing and said oh yeah . The Mother told her she has to send that money back. I was still laughing. I told her I did not want the money back yet I was still laughing. I was also drinking at the time. I told her to go shopping and buy food I do not want a penny back. She told her Mom and they went shopping. they went back home and no kidding on cam they showed me all the food they bought I was impressed. By then her Dad was home as well and he said he will pay me back. I said I do not want any money back . I said it was a gift and keep it. This happen about 8 years ago and I still laugh about it telling that story.

Paul, I saw the first 2 or 3 minutes of this video. I spoke with my girlfriend. She is 48, has 3 grown children and a 13 year old granddaughter. She lives on Mindanao. She thought the comfortable old men in the US dated their granddaughter's friends. I told her this would be viewed as disgusting. She was under the impression American men were comfortable. She did not know many expats moved to her country because they needed to reduce their cost to live.

that kind of respect for your parents and family there is common and beautiful. My wife is much like that. Though my wife is 47 and successful in her life she still holds reverence for her late parents to this day. Westerners need to be sure not to ruin this amazing society and lovely people.
