So I just forgive them and move on and try to build a new relationship with them. Because I know its not their fault its how they were brought up and it was stressful raising a weird kid that got bullied in school. No one gives parents a book on how to handle depressed kids. And nobody tells you what to do with your anger issues. You have to accept you have a problem in order to find solutions and my parents just never knew or admitted it themselves. Same, I cried as well and tbh, it’s normal for you to automatically think “I should forgive this person” because that’s something called sympathy, something that some people (like her father) do not have. But one must analyze those thoughts more deeply and take into consideration the abusee’s situation, like imagine being in their shoes, being tortured for years on end and you meet him and he shows no remorse? It’s easy to feel bad for him as you only know him from this clip. And that’s why you should not feel bad, even if it hurts you

Forgiveness is for the victim's sake, not the abuser, hate, revenge, anger, prevent you from moving on with your life and focus on the good, forgiveness set yourself free from what was done to you. She will never heal if she waits for apologies and explanation, he will probably never give that to her and she is left with more pain after this meeting. Healing is the best revenge because you didn't let that person break you and poison your mind, This is what an abuser wants, to broke you and make you miserable. This is easier said than done, but once she had grieved that father and everything she expected of him, she will feel better.

Recently my abusive father tried to hit me as an adult so I kicked him and he was taken aback because it was the first time I retaliated. Everyone thinks I’m crazy in my family now and I’ve been gaslighted in thinking so too; because how can a child hit their own parent? But after watching this video I learned that I wasn’t wrong in shouting, screaming and fighting back. It’s just the trauma. I always end up apologize but he never has.

The violence we adjust to as a child is like taking a vase and breaking it. Eventually we get the pieces in the right places and "fix" it. The cracks in the vase are the memories. Even though we look whole, the cracks are still there. I have two responses.... 1) “I don’t know how to be a good father” as in abusive/mean: Then why did you have kids in the first place, when you know you’re just going to beat them up for something little/when it’s not necessary? 2) “I don’t know how to be a good father” as in you still try your best to be a good parent, even though you’re not the best: Don’t give up! Parenting is not something that is easy for everyone. Maybe seek for assistance so you can learn from there! (Btw, I’m on the daughter’s side for this video)

But if she acted like a drama queen like that in the house as a kid, she probably needed to be disciplined (non-violent)? I wonder if her tantrums came first and then the father punished her by smacking because he didn't know any other way? It's actually still legal in some American states to punish kids by smacking (even for teachers it's legal to hit naughty kids in some states!). I don't think you should ever hit kids though as it's ineffective form of discipline. The reason I wonder though is that my neighbors kid used to throw very similar tantrums and I could hear her screaming through the walls. She used to do it everyday and then I started to hear the parents get louder and louder trying to stop her from throwing the tantrums. Sometimes it would break out into all out arguments between the mother and father. They initially tried the softly softly approach with the child but it didn't seem to work at all, so it sounded like they eventually lost their tempers and started to scream back at her!

I had a very similar experience too when I was young. My father sexually abused me. I did the same thing as she did, screaming in front of my dad trying to fight for justice but it didn't worked out well because my father is a fake person. Just like her father. My goal now is to be independent, find a job and live by myself away from him and my mum. I belive in next life, God will help us fight for justice and what we what.

We're in a similar situation, and I understand your goals. I hope the best for you to achieve them. Sometimes, it feels like you aren't going or moving anywhere, but every day you live, it's a sign you still have strength-the strength to at least try until you get in that content setting in your life. Just as you may have learned, I learned that closure would be nice but it isn't the important part of healing or recovering from what happened. Again, I hope you are able to accelerate up the hill.

I can't even blame her for screaming and crying and wanting to talk but not knowing how. I have a family member who is very similar to Young-bae's father. I would scream out at them after they had physically or verbally abused me. My own family thought I was crazy because other then when they acted violent towards me, this family member would seem so calm and mostly agreeable. In the end I wasn't crazy just deeply hurt that they could treat me that way and my fam never did nothing to stop it. The physical abuse doesn't happen anymore but i could be having the best day and the memories come flooding back, it spoils my mood for hours 🥺

You shouldn't comment if you don't know the story. The producers helped her find him. He agreed to come on camera. My guess is that he thought he could make himself look better after Young Bae and her mother trashed him, but the truth is that he doesn't realize that whatever his reasons are he still hurt his family.

She's so incredibly brave for letting such a vulnerable moment of her life be shown to the public. It really does make a difference though. I don’t watch this show or know her, but Jesus I felt every OUNCE of her pain! ANYONE who says anything about her being a brat, dramatic, overreacting etc don’t know what it’s like to have YEARS of trauma & abuse eating away at your very soul. Sometimes you get too full of the trauma, sadness, and hurt that you HAVE to let it out. Not even for any specific reason other than to get it OUT. Poor lady 😞 I hope she finds peace, love & forgiveness - not for him, but for her own mental health.
