Young blood parrot cichlid - handfeeding and bonding

On my blood parrot's first day in his new home he was a shy one, peeking out from his hiding spot every now and then to see what's going on. But already on the second day he accepted food from my hand.
On the fourth day, we became friends.

They are seriously one of the best pets I’ve ever owned! I have a male fish right now, and he brightens my day and helps extremely with my panic attacks. One night I was having the worst panic attack a few months back, and suddenly my blood parrot named Bup did this cute little dance I taught him, without me signaling for him to do it. He just kept dancing (swimming rapidly back and forth and shaking his head as if he was saying “no no no”) around the tank. It snapped me out of my anxiety and made me keep focused on him. It was very helpful and sweet. He would not take his eyes off me the rest of the night. He is very in tune, and They are so smart! The smartest fish I’ve ever seen, and I’ve had many different kinds along the years. I would get more if I had the space !!

This is great bonding. My blood parrot juveniles run and hide in a cave the moment they spot me at a distance and its been 3 weeks since i brought them home.

looks like you have a winner! i have a BPC i bought at walmart for $8.49 plus tax. he's doing real well and eats like a piggy. always looking and begging for food! he likes to attack my fingers (outside the tank.) always very curious and might hide in his cave-but not for long. usually comes right back out.

An easy way to make your blood parrots not scared of you(or at least not hide from you) is just sit near the tank for 30 minutes or even an hour play with your phone/study or do anything btw sit right next to the tank

I have one of these but when I put my hand in they swin off. But when I get food and shake it they come right up to the front of the tank also I put random small objects in front of the tank and they try to eat it. Fun fact: fish have ears inside there head

Yes! Mine took a good 6-8 weeks to warm up to me! Provide lots of hiding places for him and slowly remove some. Feed some frozen bloodworms and he will be your best friend!

If u brought a new fish even if he hides don't worry like my oscar jaguar parrot flowerhorn they love to hide so make sure to keep an hiding place for fish so the growth will be more faster i did that same

Common life spans are around 10 to 15 for BPC's but that is just an average estimate.

Is he/she scartching agaisnt objects? Rapid breathing? If your fish has both your fidh has ick. Ots fairly easy to grt rid of that try aquarium salt and bring up the hest with your aquarium heater slowly 1℃ per hour and dose salt (search on google on the dose if ick its advanced you should try heavy dosing but reaserch salt dosing im not expert) if nothing works get a medicine ich x should do it its on amazon
