This tank ordinarily belongs to my minkley cichlid which is very Territorial and has to be alone, I have ultraviolet lamps that grow this algae and I purposely let it build up so that I can let the plecos eat it. Algae is there natural food and they like it but obviously it doesn't last long they clean the tank completely in a few hours so ordinarily I feed them algae Wafers and vegetables especially cucumbers. the plecos are usually in a different tank but get moved here every few months to clean up the intentionally grown algae. No moving the fish does not Shock them since I test the water quality weekly and make sure it's exactly the same along with the temperature. Thanks for watching I can't believe a fish related video got this many views, my channel started off as fish related stuff but eventually evolve the way from it but I still post the things I love

Random, but if any of you are thinking on getting a pleco, please consider that the species in this video can grow Past a foot long. They get big. I recommend a bristlenose or clown pleco because that species will grow 3-5in, so they’re more suitable for smaller aquariums. Shrimp are also great! Might get eaten by other fish though.

God this gives me memories. When I was little my grandman used to own one of these. She had a warm fish aquarium with several species of fish, but this one was my favorite just how weird it was. The other fish would came and go, but that little bastard persisted during my whole childhood, he even survived a severe skin effection. Infortunaly my grandman got to old to take care of the aquarium, so she had to sell it along with the fish, and I haven't seen one of this ever since. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

Pleco are invasive species. There are a ton of videos where locals released pleco that had overgrown their tank into small ponds, they voraciously ate up all algae and smaller food that other fish eat and overpopulated the lake killing all the other fish. Check out florida pond pleco videos. They are pleading aquarium hobbiers to avoid releasing plecos into ponds or down the toilet bowl. They have become an infestation and difficult to kill. Also, they arent so edible.

For anyone watching this wanting one for their tank: DON’T. Common plecos like this one get to about 2 feet long, sometimes more. They need at least a 75 gallon tank to truly thrive. For those thinking of getting a pleco for there tank they need a variety of diet within there food they don't just eat algae they eat bloodworm, shrimp, beef heart, algae vegetable tablets and food pellets. People have this misconception that they eat poop and keep tank clean, while it's true they help maintain tank cleaniest they do not eat poop. There called bottom feeders because they eat what food they find on the bottom. You still have to gravel clean your tank bottom substrate and do a regular water changes at least 20% weekly or every 2 weekly. Post 10. I have gone through most of your videos from way back when. They are all interesting. I love critters especially turtles and tortoises so Tonka is my fave. Your lake drain video showed up on my feed months ago and I have been hooked since. I am going to see the dinosaur prints next to the CT river tomorrow. Thanks for posting these videos Post 10. Have fun but stay safe.

With this disco music and the fish chomping reminds me of the old days of raves and seeing people dancing and chomping on disco biscuits

I used to love these fish. They stopped selling them in South Africa, well at least in Durban about two years ago when I was looking to buy a couple. Apparently they were being released into the wild and they do devastating damage to the eco system.

Had a common pleco for my first fish in my first tank. Never realized just how big these guys can get but thought they were cool nonetheless. Named him Guke and had him for 8yrs. Now I got a sailfin pleco named Gunk (I'm not that imaginative in naming things).
