It saddens me and many in the community that this property was just demolished on December 9th 2024. I have read and heard the story MANY times and even Drove past it many times but never relized it until seeing this documentery

I’m sorry, it isn’t that. I’ve had to take a couple months off to renovate a house, move, and take a n international trip with my husband. I think by next week I’ll be able to return to normal life. I’m sorry for my absence but it really couldn’t be helped. Thanks for your concern. I’ll be back soon!

Excellent presentation but "The rescue..."? Of who exactly? Also double check your sources. I don't think ANY of the Officers had a long gun. Still I really enjoyed seeing the scene as it is today and enjoyed this as well as the other two. I look forward to the next part.

Wiley Mashburn was alive, that’s why I use that word. He was rescued and taken to the hospital. He even was capable of standing up and transferring himself from the stretcher. It’s so sad he didn’t make it. If it happened today with modern medicine he might have made it. I used a lot of newspaper coverage so exaggeration on their part is probable, although in my memory I think that was from an account by Owen Brown from the coroner inquest, either way, I am positive I encountered it in a primary resource.

@@MMorbid I agree he was taken to the hospital. It seems an intentional act of cruelty that he was left living by the Youngs. They would have had to realize he was still living when they stripped him of his .44 S&W. I haven't read any of the period newspaper accounts, but I have both the Davis and Burnside books and they along with the 2011 documentary "Firefight" agree all Officers were armed with revolvers only. Not criticizing you in any way. Just wanting to keep facts straight. Keep up the great work, I've been subscribed since you started the Parker & Barrow series and really enjoy your work.

@@r.shanethompson7933 I’m thinking I encountered that in a newspaper article, there was a whole article about Oliver’s heroism and fighting to the end. I need to start adding a disclaimer I guess about my use of contemporary newspaper accounts because this has happened to me before, but I really like using primary resources best. But papers back then did like to spice stuff up a bit, and it’s also possible they simply got some details wrong, as can sometimes happen when a story first breaks and all of the facts aren’t yet in.

@@MMorbid don't change a thing. Please don't even think I was suggesting that! I love the channel and your content. I was just discussing a discrepancy between what I'd read and what you read. We weren't there, so in all actuality it could have honestly been either way. Keep up the great work for us dear, I really enjoy your work. Take care.

When Ben Blue was a youngster, I wonder if they called him Little boy blue?? 😂😂 All jokes side, this was an excellent telling of this account of those tragic events of January, 1932. Great job!!

Its spelling is Bilyeu, it’s a common name around here. I had a professor in college with that name but we pronounced it Beh-lew. Maybe later generations started saying it differently for the reason you mentioned!
