Kudos for setting the record straight about weather Bonnie shot the officer or not; bringing to light the circumstances of the witnesses, Methin drinking, and underscoring the condition of Bonnie's leg should convince most folks thinking otherwise. As for The Highwaymen, movies will always be only movies; conglomerations of misinformation entwined with a plethora of hokum scenes laced with cutsie, cornball dialogue. Not the place to go for a history lesson.

With all the documentaries I have seen...Lee Harvey Oswald was set up...why all rushed into the book depositary because it was a set up ..why no shots were fired when the limousine was heading towards the book depositary...would have been a better clear view..what about all that witnesses that said they heard gun shots from the grassy knoll they were never called to the Warren commission...the mind was made up that Lee Harvey Oswald was the assassin...there were more than one shooter...why nobody checked the Deltex building..no matter what anyone said the Cia..fbi and the police made up their minds Oswald was the assassin..at the theater where Oswald was arrested witnesses claimed they saw an Oswald look alike ..but was wisked away ...also a few minutes after the shooting a description of Oswald was on the police radio...captain Westbrook was the highest officer at the theater..Westbrook cannot account for forty-five minutes of his time ...he only got to Jd Tippett and only for a few minutes...also he produced a wallet say it was Oswald's ...with so many officer's on the scene but he found the wallet..captain Westbrook was not being honest...it seems that Tippett was sent to take out Oswald but he stopped the wrong party ...as for Oswald he was told to go to the theater maybe to meet his controller...with all their efforts failed Jack Ruby was allowed in the basement a known underground character how is that possible...he had one job to take out Oswald...

@MMorbid
@MMorbid 8 күн бұрын
@@johnmerced32 almost all were police officers killed in shootouts trying to arrest or catch the gang. And various members of the gang were responsible for the deaths. In some gun fights it isn’t terribly clear who fired the killing shot. Clyde is thought to have been personally responsible for about five. WD Jones one, Buck one, and Henry Methvin three or four. The first death was a shop owner killed by early associates whose names I don’t remember. The shop owner went for a gun, so they shot him. Clyde was the getaway driver and not in the building, but that didn’t matter. Once that happened he faced the chair. Capture meant death so he did what it took to survive. Basically it was his life against theirs, and he chose his own. Clyde preferred fleeing or even kidnapping police and dropping them off in the middle of nowhere so he’d be long gone by the time they reached civilization to report seeing him. But if cornered, he did what had to be done. Henry Methvin was much meaner. He killed at least three officers in cold blood. Clyde certainly would have kidnapped them, but Methvin opened fire. The inadequacy of law enforcement at the time also increased the body count, and not just with the Barrow gang. Completely untrained farmers with exactly zero training, who furnished their own weapons just didn’t cut it anymore in the era of the Great Depression and Prohibition. I have covered the deaths of so many police officers during this period. Many times they had no clue who they were encountering. While the gangs were certainly responsible for these deaths many were absolutely preventable if the police had actually been better trained or prepared.

I thought it was great. And there was an exhibit displaying all the various conspiracy theories, and they ask every interview guest what they think about them. I’m sorry you are disappointed the museum focuses on actual evidence. Don’t get me wrong, nonsense is certainly entertaining, but it wouldn’t be a very good educational institution if it did that. And as a historian I couldn’t use an institution that peddled debunked information.

It is very interesting and I appreciate that she addresses these women’s lives. They should never be forgotten. No matter their lot in life, they did not deserve to die that way. Several Barrow/Parker next-of-kin were immediately rounded up, severely beaten by police, including the Officer's Commanders, and tossed into Texas Prisons, WITHOUT TRIALS, on the Orders of the Governor of Texas. Any attorney who tried to come forward to represent them in any proceeding, would lose their Credential to Practice Law in the State of Texas, be deported out of state, and be banned from ever setting foot back in Texas.

The older the interview, the worse the sound was. Some of these interviews were done as much as 20 years ago, so they have improved a lot in recent years. It’s funny that the worst sound quality for Jim Leavelle was the interview where he was the youngest. There were certain ones that were particularly bad. I enhanced them as much as I could but there’s only so much I could do. I’m glad you liked it despite those limitations.

Was Oswald a CIA agent and also working for the FBI? Just more verification to this fact was Dallas District Attorney Henry Wade which presented this information to Earl Warren and J. Lee Rankin. Wade presented Oswald’s CIA personal identity number as #110669 and that it was consistent with the CIA’s filing system. Oswald’s CIA 201 personality file that Oswald’s CIA number on the file was 289248. Rankin never shared the above information with other members of the Commission. It was Waggoner Carr, the Texas Attorney General, who had provided the information to Rankin that Oswald had an FBI badge with number 179 and he was being paid $200 a month.
