In this clip, Young Chris recalls Jay-Z's big announcement that he was leaving Roc-A-Fella Records to accept the position of President at Def Jam. He says that Jay-Z made the revelation to him, Freeway, Memphis Bleek, and some others while they were all on tour. He also shares that the writing was on the wall because there had been serious friction between Jay-Z and Dame Dash. The Philadelphia native also shares that Dame Dash had encouraged him to go solo around that time. Lastly, he reveals what his relationship with Dame is like today.

You gotta ask the questions about the things that have never been really answered. The rumblings at the time was Beans caught Dame redirecting State Property and his Pro Keds deal checks to himself and misrepresenting how much was actually given. Jay also caught Dame skimming money from Rocafella to fund that magazine he tried to launch with his girl. The story was a lot deeper than loyalty and a lot deeper than breaking up to goto Def Jam. There was A LOT of shxt going around back then. Even Jay initially trying to GIVE them Rocafella, in exchange for JUST owning Reasonable Doubt - and they were like NAH, we helped put that together. And he’s like but that’s the culmination of MY 26 or however many years of living life before that. Which still is obviously a sore spot, as you saw with the lawsuit against Dame for trying to sell the Reasonable Doubt percentage to the white company for some kind of NFT. It’s a lot more to the story but we only get surface level questions answered

He’s creating a new label called Roc LaFamilia & he’s choosing Kanye, Young Gunz, Freeway, Peedi Crakk while Dame has the rest of the label. As for Dipset, they’re not choosing a side although they’re close to Dame. They’re just going to do their own thing”. After that I’m shocked as fuck can’t wait to tell my friends at school. Then i think it’s a comedian but i forgot his name turned one of the Christmas songs into a parody song saying “Dame Dash is Done, Dame Dash is Done” I’m bout to see if the audio is on KZbin. It was a crazy time cuz that’s when Jay was tryna expand into the reggaeton scene with this dude name Aztek, he had the sneakers signing Jamal Crawford then of course in 05 we saw him signing Foxy & she had 2 songs in rotation bout to drop her album but she went deaf 🤦🏾‍♂️
