I'm not sure what's more ridiculous: The way that Dr. Frankestein was able to teach the monster a choreographed musical number, or the fact that everyone in this very classy establishment brought cabbage to throw at the performers
@valentinemiller86803 жыл бұрын
Actually it used to be quite common to bring items to throw in case of an awful performance. It was starting to become less popular, but it still happened during this time frame. Humans just like throwing stuff.

I guess at one time audiences did take vegetables to the theatre to throw at the actors if the stunk . I know it happened at the Globe Theatre during Shakespeare's times , but I'm not sure when they stopped . It's a good thing they did for the sake of today's actors and playwrights !

I find it ironic how, in this particular regard, Mel Brooks’ comic portrayal was more faithful to Mary Shelley’s envisioned character than some prior depictions. In the original novel, not only is the creature massive with superhuman strength, but he also has superhuman speed which makes him difficult for Victor Frankenstein to hunt. Near the end, there is even a mention that the creature stole firearms and briefly used them to ward off villagers in the frozen north.

Amazing mix of pathos, humor, idiocy, genius, drama, music, slapstick, and lewd remarks. Nothing like it in cinematic history.

One of my go-to make me laugh scenes Just need to think of the look of pride in wilder's eyes when the monster sings to crack up.

Saw this movie at the drive-in when it first came out. You could barely hear the monologue because everyone in every car was laughing so loud. Years later I realized just how talented Gene was. R.I.P Marty, Peter, Gene and Cloris.
