Am I the only one who doesn't understand why the heck this album got so much hate? Lyrically, the whole album is one of the best I have heard from any band, the instrumentation creates an atmosphere that's perfect for this album, Gustav really shines with his voice and it still really sounds like Young Guns to me. Why all the hate?

Maybe the woman represents their band. So at first only a handful of people knew about them, then their fan base started to grow. Because they've their sound a little bit, people's perceptions of their band is changing and they don't like it, so they're leaving and stopped listening to them. Gustav represents the fans who are still holding on to their band and is still looking forward to and anticipating their new music. The old man in the front door could be their management or it could be ticket resellers who have bots who buy the tickets and resell them for crazy prices to gain profit. (hate them) LOOL! I think I'm wrong but this is my perspective of this video and I think its what their aiming for, different interpretations by different fans :)

I just had a funny thought, while i do think Young Guns are pretty good band, they remind me an awful lot of You Me at Six :) . Though that might not really be a bad thing - if both bands ever lose a lot of members and are both in danger of not making anymore music, they can follow the leads of boybands, Mcfly and Busted, who became McBusted - what would a good name of the newly joined together band be, Young Six?, You Me at Guns?, something else? :) .

iDoAirGuitar I guess the video is telling us about prostitution. The woman is prostitute, typical woman who makes living by "selling her body". The vocalist is the first man who used her service and he thought he was the only one until another men, one by one, use her service too. As the thing keeps progressing, the woman becomes insane because of the prostitution, but one by one, men keep leaving her alone like no one is responsible for what she had become. And the old man sitting in front of the door who collects the money is her pimp.

Read some comments about what this video is about and here goes my point of view. What if there's some hidden story for the band? The women is simply the band, in the beginning she had only few fans (the one who stayed until the end) but as the story goes there are more and more people watching her. She look quite nice in the beginning but later she simply changed and as some wrote here she changed her behavior and that made her fans leaving. So what if they simply want to warm themselves as a band that if their rising fame and money makes them change, they will simply lost many fans. I love YG damn much and been there since AOKAD,seeing them rising and slowly conquering more places in the world and I always had a little chat with them after a gig and they were really nice and pretty down-to-earth so I just hope they will always stay this way and the fame won't make them behave arrogant, ignorant or something negative like this. Can't wait for new record!

Hm, i don't know what to think yet. They've added more styles to their usual roots, but that's not a problem here. The lyrics are as complex as those of previous albums, and the typical elements of the Guns are still there (gustav's voice, the guitar-style, base and battery, the chorus of voices, etc.) Guess i'll have to listen to the new album, listen to the previous material once again, and then i'll know what to think =) Go on guys! YOU ROCK

All you ever had to do was try talking to me... but you never even tried. Always looking for that reason not to, always searching for my faults... I guess you never really knew me after all... I guess I didn’t really know you either. I will always believe we were meant for more. So much more than either one of us allowed... so much more than this. What a tragedy... I don’t think you ever wanted me to be ok because then... you can stay safe in the sense of never having to take a risk, never having to step outside your comfort zone and you could do it so by blaming me. Then you dint have to admit you were blaming me for the loss of something you never truly wanted anyway. And you don’t have to admit... it was you that kept it from becoming the amazing thing it could have been. You blame me for not choosing you when in reality you never gave me the option. You never made yourself a choice. Wether deep down I knew of not ... I’m not going to war for someone who never even laced up their boots. Meet me on the battlefield or let me go.

They have a bigger label telling them 'sex sells'. That's the real point of the video. It feel a bit creepy and awkward to me. There is no resolution or hint and what was happening. Just men taking photos of the objectified woman. Don't get me wrong, I love Young Guns to the end of the earth, but the new larger label's influence is definitely becoming more apparent.
@saneill1710 жыл бұрын
The video just makes me feel uncomfortable. And it's very incoherent. Probably just a bad management working on the video that have no clue what the band is about so they just did something 'arty' to pass off their lack of understanding.
@alyxvirus29410 жыл бұрын
maybe there was no solution in the video because to the band there hasn't been a solution either. Maybe the problem isn't over.

saneill17 I'm pretty sure it's supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. I get the impression it's about the dehumanization of women through sexual objectification. The rooms keep getting dirtier and the woman moves in an almost inhuman manner by the end of it.

Really not sure what this music video was about (loved it though!) but anyone else notice how she got all weird toward the end of the video after having her picture taken countless times? maybe it's referring to how pictures take away from beauty maybe? or something about the current 'selfie'/picture taking culture we have today. Just what i think, it is awfully weird and confusing but still amazing

Personally I took from it that people enjoy other people's tragedy. The woman, representing the objectified and sexualized feminine image of the modern day (a la celebrities, models, singers, etc) is simply a product, and the people tune in through the eyes of the media (the cameramen). And that even when she loses herself to such itemization, and essentially breaks down into insanity, the cameras keep on flashing. Because, even more so than adoration for celebrities, people love to witness their utter destruction (albeit in a sick, sadistic, self-denial sort of way)...

I'm thinking it's about the sexual objectification of women ripping away humanity. She starts off looking wealthy and powerful through her sexuality, but as the video goes on it changes. The rooms get dirtier and darker while the clothes she's wearing get less and less elegant or associated with wealth. By the end, she no longer even moves like a human being.
@CalebMichaelsonVEVO10 жыл бұрын
I thought the same. Also, as she starts to expose more of herself, her movements become less gracious and more unpredictable, as if she's using her dancing to express her "darker side". By the end, her message just becomes so distorted it stops making sense, so everybody just stops looking.
@iDoAirGuitar9 жыл бұрын
I think that's probably it. My thinking is that gus is somebody she was originally comfortable with doing it, but as more and more people come, you can see both parties become more uncomfortable with it, with her becoming more unhinged. And when everyone leaves, he hesitated, but she lashed out at him too, almost like the end of a relationship. He leaves because he knows he can't do anything.

The video seems to demonstrate shallow objectification and sexist attitudes that the media uses towards celebrities, always whether they like it or not, for the sake of profit - something that celebrities themselves often take advantage of to boost their own fame (Miley Cyrus anyone?). The band members all enter, take their photos of the woman and then exit; leaving her on her own once they've got what they wanted. I think people have also started taking attitudes like this much more in general, such as with the way that we judge pictures of each other online rather than actually looking at someone in person: "OMG let me take a selfie! #givemelikes #me_me_me " "She looks fat LOL". Urgh. Lyrically (click 'SHOW MORE') it's about how the world has started communicating with each other using phones and the internet instead of doing it in person. Speaking has become less meaningful and sincere, eg: "I'd run all night Just to hear you speak in tongues to me Now we stare at phones And talk in awkward teenage poetry" "We're speaking in tongues Face to face but miles away" Overall the lyrics and video are about how times have changed from a world of simple face-to-face conversation about things that actually matter, to the more sordid, superficial world we find ourselves moving progressively closer to. That's my take on everything anyway :)
