Both have different advantages. Zatanna can chant any spell anytime (which is just her speaking backwards) and the lasso is for moments where the person that you want to interrogate isn‘t tied up already. The best part is: Zatanna‘s arsenal of spells is virtually limitless since all she has to do is speaking backwards. Both the lasso and Zatanna‘s truth magic are equally useful but I‘d say that Zatanna‘s magic fits more into calmer scenes.

I wish they utilized Miss Martians super strength and shape shifting more often. I love her psychic and telekinetic abilities, but it is just one aspect of her powers as a Martian. At first I thought it was to balance out her power level for the sake of plot, but then they revealed her to be natural gifted with huge amounts of raw psychic power, so that theory went down the toilet. They could have just had her make more balanced use of all of her powers instead of making one in particular super powerful and then just under utilizing all her other powers. The scene with the monkeys was one of the few times she actually used shape shifting for anything other than stealth, which is a shame.
