Honestly, if you have a barber like this near you, you’re extremely lucky. First time I went barbers after 5 months of growth, I asked to keep it medium-length. I came out with a skin fade. Most local barbers shit themselves now if you don’t ask for a fade, scissors cut for them is just nightmare fuel.

Just a barber myself, you're absolutely right Ben, apart from fade and short haircut most of "Modern Barber" lack a lot of basic principle of scissor over comb work. Fortunately here in Italy we are blessed with some of the most classic and traditional barber ever :D

I love these videos but its so frustrating to watch because despite explaining exactly what I want to a barber and sometimes even sending them videos like this before the appointment to make sure they can do it (they always say yes), it always looks like a mediocre cut or not close at all. Where are barbers like you in real life???

Most people who call themselves "barber" these days are just mediocre normies without any serious drive and dedication to the craft, they just took advantage that these days those horrible sides fades are the default cut for 99% of men and just got their permits in order to do that, is just a 6 month course, usually if the barber is below age 40 you should stay away from him if you want anything other than a side fade. Look for older barbers, specially 50+ y.o men , and dont be too precise when you ask them what you want done, they'll find it insulting, just give them a short and humble general idea of what you want, let them go to work.

Loved the over-comb work. I always look to perfect the style for cutting dad's hair, which we have been doing since early last year, not that it's like a barber can do, by any means. We (me and mom) do what we can, and do keep it nice & short, but sometimes looking at a style with over the comb work helps us tremendously.
