IT ENDS WITH US, based on the global phenomenon by Colleen Hoover, tells the empowering story of Lily Bloom (Blake Lively). Grappling with a painful past, Lily embarks on a new life in Boston, embraces her artistry, and passionately pursues her dream of opening her own flower shop. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her dangerous father. With the support of her friends and allies, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) and Allysa Kincaid (Jenny Slate), Lily must find her own strength to break the pattern or the pattern will break her.

Walking in on them, then dragging Atlas outside would have been understandable, but breaking down the door and hospitalizing him is crossing the line.

I'm so glad someone said this. There should be a buildup to the extreme violence, such as Atlas provoking him first, otherwise it made no sense

Lily’s father is a controlling abusive narcissist. Same as Ryle. See the parallel. She subconsciously attracted a man similar to her father because her nervous system got used to that dysfunction. Atlas was the safest love she received from a boy. Even got a tattoo to match the heart wood carving he made her as a reminder. It took seeing him 20 years later to bring back that hope for safe love. And the birth of her daughter. Lily’s mother wasnt brave enough to leave the abuser. But shes proud of Lily for leaving her abuser. Lily broke the chains of generational trauma. She wanted more and better for herself and for her daughter. In the end she found safe stable love back in Atlas…

@ She asks Ryle for a divorce in the labour & delivery room right after she has the baby. Then fast forward a few years, you see her at an outdoor market with her mom and toddler, and she runs into Atlas. In the end, it’s assumed her and Atlas end up together. Which is so hokey because real life hardly plays out like this.

I am not commenting on what this movie was bring light. However, it was really laking in true dialog. They said yea a lot & never finished a thought. When he asked her if u loved him, there was so much she could have said. When he asked about the tattoo again, she didn't explain anything. I am not excusing abuse in any way. But when u leave the door open for ppl to interpret ur thought it's not good. Additionally, he never shared his childhood & she never asked. Even though she knew he had a brother who died. She had a very real emotional connection with Atlas at a time that they were both going through issues in their life. She failed to share that with the man she married. Abuse is not ok ever for any reason. But to me, this movie did bring that home for me. This was a train wreck waiting to happen due to unresolved past issues. Anyone who has ever been in an abusive relationship or grown up in one (that's me, also witnessed other family members in abusive relationships). Knows that you can't speak to an abuse the way she did in the hospital or even when he found Atlases number. This is just my opinion, and I still think there are 2 good movies that really bring home the abuse issue. 1st and Best the Burning Bed. 2nd A Cry for Help the Tracy Thurman story. If ur currently in an abusive relationship, u can get out, U are strong, and u will survive ur death is staying in that relationship.

The disparity in strength between a man and a boy, or a young man in this case, can be pretty large. Not to mention the combination of anger and adrenaline.
