I knew Buddy way back in the day when his Mom was the best jazz teacher in Houston and my teacher, Margo Marshall was the top ballet teacher.....we shared venues and had joint performances and sometimes took class from top ballet company scouts. Funny, kind and unassuming, Buddy just wanted to be accepted and loved.

I know how pathetic this is going to sound, but my father abandoned me when I was a kid. I was nine. Whenever I needed a dad (was sad, not feeling well, etc) I would watch one of Patrick Swayze's movies. Usually The Outsiders or City of Joy. I always thought that if I could choose my own father, it would have been him.
