When Jesus was crucified on the cross, His sacrifice made it possible for us to come boldly to the Throne Room of God and receive forgiveness for our sins. Christ alone, no priest, no pope, Christ alone is all we need. I don’t bow down to any mortal man and I don’t bow down to Mary. I appreciate her for being willing and taking on the responsibility of carrying and giving birth to our Lord and Savior, but she was just a mortal woman like any other woman. She can’t hear my prayers or answer my prayers. I worship Jesus Christ and Him alone. Only He can hear and answer my prayers.

That’s a warning that we all need to heed, but especially the Christian. People think, oh that’s a warning for sinners, but it’s a warning for us Christians too. We need to know and understand that we have an enemy, an adversary, walking around the world, and in the church, seeking whom he may devour. He especially hates Christians and he wants to cause situations in our lives where we fall into despair and into sin and then he wants us dead while we are in sin so he’s able to take one of the sheep right from Jesus’ flock. People, mistakenly think that he wants us to worship him, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. All satan wants is us dead. He wants to unalive the sinner before they have a chance to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and he wants to cause the Christian to backslide and unalive us while we are in a fallen condition. So he roams the world looking for those he may devour. As Christians we need to stay as close to The Lord as we can so we don’t fall into the pit of sin. We need to pray daily without ceasing and study our Bible every single day, no excuses. In this day and age, we are blessed to have the Bible right in the palm of our hands and many apps that will read our Bible out loud for us, so even being sick or blind, we have no excuse not to read it. I am very thankful that God is a loving and forgiving Father, because like Peter in the New Testament, I’m always falling down and needing Gods forgiveness and mercy and grace. Less and less as I’m getting older, thankfully. I’m extremely thankful that Jesus, our Good Shepherd, will leave the 99 and go out and search for the 1 lost sheep and He refuses to stop searching until He finds us and brings us back into the fold. Thank you for sharing that particular scripture, it is a good reminder for me to remain vigilant. God bless you and take care.

It's not about religion. It's about a personal relationship with God. There's no such thing as cheap Grace. It cost Jesus a tremendous price to give us that grace & salvation.. it's a precious gift, free gift IF we truly believe with all our heart that Jesus is Son of God & came to be our Savior. We cannot earn this gift of grace by works. Our Foursquare Church teaches us that once we're born again, it doesn't mean we now have a license to sin. We now have the Holy Spirit to guide us & help us confess our sins & truly repent and our mind still needs to be renewed & we keep growing in God's love & grace. We stay in God's Word. I was surprised that when I left Catholic Church, I was now actually using my Bible more & even taking it to Church with me!

It’s interesting you say that. What’s funny is that once I truly read the Bible you begin to realize that everything the Catholic Church does is scripture being played out in front of you, whether it be literally or symbolically. This. As a non-denominational Christian I have a big problem with the gift shop aspect of the Catholic Church. Praying to saints or to Mary and selling “holy” water seems so backwards. Dearest Megyn, Please read John ch. 3 The troubled religious leader came to Jesus and asked “How can I be saved?” Jesus “You must be born again” “How?” We have a birth into the naural life. We also we need a spiritual birth We are spiritually dead because we inherited Adam’s sin nature. We are born again spritually by acknowledging our sin, repenting of it and asking Jesus to forgive us for it, turn around and follow Jesus (who said later in “I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me”) John3:16,17 capitulate that message. Good works don’t get you into heaven but at the moment you repent the Holy Spirit will enter you and birth you into everlasting life and into the family of God’s abdopted children and joint heirs with Christ! Because the love of God in our hearts we desire to like Jesus and follow our God given calling and giftings out of deep gratitude, because we are now saved! (Not to get saved) “By grace we are saved , not of works lost any man should boast!”
@CarmenHargis6 ай бұрын
Megyn, We should hold the marriage covenant seriously, but we don’t believe you must document and get your forgiveness or excuse or whatever from a church or people of the church. It’s between you and the Lord to get that forgiveness. He is the only one we need to please and not man. I’m Protestant (actually Assembly of God Pentecost), and we may go to our Pastor for counseling and spiritual leadership, but ultimately, we go directly to the Lord for forgiveness and absolution of sins. Only Christ can give that. Man cannot!!!! It doesn’t matter who they are. Paul instructs us… ”Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.“ Hebrews 4:16 KJV I’m thinking that the Holy Spirit is directing you to only Christ Himself and not to man or any church. Church and that ministry can be great but when it comes to intimacies in our lives, we need to draw the line and only go to Christ for such things. Go with that directing!! You can pray directly to God for forgiveness or for anything you need!

Yes. I understand. I was raised in a Catholic family. Knowing Christ in a personal way assumes the process of acknowledging ourselves as sinners, asking for forgiveness, asking Christ into our lives, is what brings salvation. I am not anti-Catholic. However, they’ve got it wrong in terms of needing the Church as a mediator between us and Christ. If the priest-child predator epidemic happened in any non Catholic Church, that church would have closed down. Non Catholics can attend any group of believers. Obviously, there are central beliefs that comprise orthodoxy. Think about the Apostles creed. Happy Easter.

@@malice836 Christians are people who have the Holy Spirit in them. Those are the true Christians. The Catholic Church stresses their organization. Priests as mediators. Sacraments and other things that are not biblically required. Catholic doctrine ties the believer to the organization. Hence why so many stayed through all of the kid diddling. The church is the gathering of the people. The true bride of Christ. Not any denomination. Non Catholics are free to move away from that kind of corruption. Their salvation is not based on the organization or real estate that they worship in. Where 2 or more are gathered in His name, He is in our midst. Again, I am not Anti-Catholic. The achy, empty, questioning feeling you are experiencing about others standing between you and that relationship is simply due to a man-made construct housed in religion. I can tell you love the tradition of the Catholic Church- and understandable since you were raised as a child with that practice. I am so glad you enjoy your local church and pastor. HOWEVER...the voice of God is drawing you to him through the discomfort you are experiencing. God is waiting for you to talk to him about this- not in a formal, memorized prayer- but just your own thoughts and questions. He knows you and He loves you and He is waiting for you to turn to him (not to religion!) I would love to write pages to you, but I will leave you with one Scripture Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. That's you!

Megyn just got to the place where she's realised that the construct of the Roman Catholic church stands between her & God. I'm glad she's uncomfortable about it. The only intermediary between the Father & man is Christ the Saviour. The R.C. church interjects itself between the two & demands loyalty & obedience to the church over Christ. Submission is not optional. In no place in scripture is this 'system' taught or any of the ceremonies & laws laid down by the R.C. church authenticated. I hope Megyn stays uncomfortable until she finds her way to Biblical Christianity. Read your Bible for starters Megyn, not the R.C version, try the King James.

"Bible alone" was unheard of before the invention of the printing press. Most of the population was illiterate too. If Christianity had been "book only" from the beginning, it wouldn't have lasted long. Handwritten books were hard to come by, and would have been of no use to most people because they couldn't read anyway, much less understand the complex texts. Yeah thank Martin Luther for beginning the major splintering of Christianity into thousands of pieces with everyone coming up with their own "truth." Sounds like relativism.

Dylan played harmonica on Green's song "If You Love The Lord" on Green's "So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt" album from 1980. Megyn, you should consult with a Catholic Canon Lawyer. My parents were married (they had a courthouse wedding) for over 20 years before my father was finally able to obtain an annulment of his first marriage. A Catholic priest canon lawyer handled the matter for my father in relatively short order. Prior to finding this priest, my father had been working with three different Roman Catholic parish priest pastors, unsuccessfully, from 1961 until 1982. My parents were finally married in the Catholic Church in the summer of 1982, by the same priest who finally got my father's annulment. My older sister, younger brother, and I attended their Catholic Church marriage service. Best regards to you. Happy Easter!

Well there's 3 ways you can deal with the first marriage thing. 1. You get yourself a ram, turn to Exodus 29:13 for instruction on what to do with the fat of the entrails, liver and kidneys. 2. Get the annulment which is similar to step one. 3. Lay it at the feet of Jesus whose blood covered step one.

Megyn- What does the Bible say about how your relationship with God should look? Put it in its simplest form. No where in the Bible does it say that you have to confess to your pastor, get your marriage annulled, or perform “rituals”. What if you live remote and don’t have a priest to be able to do this? Are you not saved or welcomed by your Lord? I don’t think so. Why does the Catholic Church’s rituals supersede what the Bible says? What gives them that authority? We are to pray continuously working out our salvation with God (not man). There are many conservative churches out there. I’m sorry you went to one that does not follow God’s word. I press you to continue to reflect on your faith and relationship with your Maker. I don’t believe God intended for our relationship and our salvation, to be difficult and based on our works. Keep praying about this. God will reveal all things to you!

No pomp and circumstance- God doesn’t need pretty things to bring people in. It’s in His word how to bring them in- so much simpler than “all this”. It’s what makes it hard to accept. Mark 16:15 Scripture has all the answers.

Megyn, thank you for your vulnerability. God loves and accepts you. Jesus took the punishment for our sin and made that sacrifice so we could be brought into full fellowship with Him. I’m not Catholic, but I am a believer in Jesus. Not too long ago, I had to resolve my feelings about my own divorce and later remarriage. I had to really receive the forgiveness of my sin in the failure of amy first marriage. I had to accept without defensiveness that my imperfection brought about that failure (my ex-husband had his own sin and failure to own, too). I didn’t have to go through a formal process with my church in order for my second marriage to happen in the church, but my own conscience demanded it of me. Your faith tradition requires it of you, but once you go through the process of really coming to terms with that on a spiritual level, you will feel a true shift in your spirit. I pray that you will feel a fuller and deeper connection with God and an overwhelming sense of God’s immense love for and approval of you.

I am a cradle catholic, but finally learned the truth when I started reading the Bible. The RCC has a few things right, but are terribly wrong about deifying his human mother, with the mass as if Christ’s sacrifice was insufficient. TheRCC has made up a bunch of rules suggesting if you follow them, it will name you holier or closer to God. The priesthood is not biblical either if you just read the verses about all Christians are a royal priesthood, and the veil to the Holy of Holies was torn open showing we no longer needed ANYONE to be a mediator Ie. no high priests anymore. And actually thinking a human being can call Almighty Gods from his throne into a pice of bread is heretical. Please read truth.

I am a sinner, I am no more than a body of dust and water that serves as a vessel for my spirit. I am not worthy of anything, least of all God's grace and mercy. Proverbs tells us that wisdom begins with fear of the Lord. He is everything, I am nothing. I don't need to know anything more than that except for two things. For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son to bring His light to the world, and, For while we were yet sinners, God showed His love for us by sending his Son to die for us. Sidenote: I read something once about 1st century Christian writers that claimed they didnt do Christmas, that people were honored more on the anniversary of their death. I'm not really one to talk because I have a difficult time finding a local church home because I refuse to attend a christmas celebrating church, I believe Holy Week should be based on PASSOVER. Remember, the Last Supper was the Passover feast. That is why they were in Jerusalem. The youth are leaving the Catholic Church because priests raped children and their parents didn't demand the Clerics clean house and continued to support the '''Church" financially. I can't look at a man with a collar without wondering if he was involved or knew and covered it up. As Christians, our demand for accountability must start with ourselves, especially the clergy, Scriptures tell us they HAVE to be held to a higher standard. Sorry if I sound judgey, but I judge myself as harshly, don't forget the judgement and the wrath we deserve, and then bathe in the joy of knowing God's grace and mercy through His Son's persecution and sacrifice.
