I will never forget the shock that was watching an interview with Malte after seeing what a dick August is. They could not have picked a more different guy to play that man. @@five-peaceBasically, so, in Young Royals music generally seems to be a metaphor for love, and that’s really shown in the piano scene. 　- - Simon exclusively plays by ear, he loves from his heart, instinctively and without rules to restrict him. Wilhelm was only taught how to play from sheet music, he was taught the “rules” of dating and those rules are constantly causing damage, I guess, to Wilhelm and Simon’s relationship. 　- - Then, there’s the bit when Wilhelm says “You’re a tenor (boy), stop trying to play the soprano (girl) line.” almost saying “You’re a boy. Stop acting like a ‘girl’ with me.” (Basically, following the, crown imposed, dating “rules” Simon shouldn’t be “acting like a girl” with him by kissing him in darkened hallways, he should just be Wilhelm’s friend). 　　- - Also, If you’re curious about the music = love metaphor, tvmicroscope’s Substack has some interesting stuff.

Niall I’m about to make you really happy with this comment hopefully haha! Remember how we saw Wilhelm delete Simon’s contact from his phone earlier in the episode. If he deleted Simon’s number then how else would he have been able to call him from the football field? He memorised his number (even in his high a f state) just wanted to point that out to you and also say hope you are ready for the rest! Also season 3 just wrapped filming xxx

21:23 I really don't think August's reaction was homophobic. I think he was shocked. I mean, to this day, there hasn't been a single openly gay prince, let alone king. So, he thought he was witnessing something to laugh about with the boys (as shown in the lunch room scene in previous episodes) but turns out he was witnessing something that could reshape the entire monarchy and the world instead. Also, I guess the surprise probably comes from a bit more than just "omg the prince is gay" since August is Wille's cousin. So it's more like "omg my cousin's gay", despite the fact that Wille never actually identifies as gay, but that's what most people assume anyway when they see two boys kissing

BTW, just to let you know - Wilhelm's mother is the Queen Regnant, her husband is the consort. Also, when he and Eric were speaking before the luncheon, did you notice Eric used neutral pronouns when talking about the individual Wilhelm met? The Queen asked August to look after Wilhelm because his mother is her first cousin, which makes him her first cousin once removed. So you think August is terrible, huh? You ain't seen nothing yet! Great reaction, man.

August's father was the Queen's first cousin, he's the royal in August's family, his mom isn't royal. August is the Queen's nephew, he's Erik's and Wilhelm's second cousin. If August's father was still alive he would be in line for the throne before August.

His father's family was elevated to the nobility in 1769, which August reiterated at the Parents Day Luncheon. August could only be the Queen's nephew if one of his parents was her sibling. Second cousins are the children of first cousins once removed.

Yes, his mother, as well as every other first cousin is ahead of August. But it's fiction and if you want to get technical, it's the Swedish parliament that sets the line of succession, not the Royal Court

The problem and probably the most tragic part of Erik's death is that Wille is alone. He has basically no true friends, he was close to Erik only in the royal family, and he "has to" push away Simon, the only person he started to open up to. With the death of Erik, Wille lost his support, as well as his entire future taken away just to play king later on.

I understand why people hate August but I don't! I very much disapprove of August's behavior but he is alone and his mother is neglecting him. All those things his mother told him to sale are pieces of his father that he is trying to hold onto. August's mom sent him to a boarding school after his father committed suicide, barely checks on him, isn't motherly in the slightest and it's really sad. As a mother whose spouse committed suicide, she should have had more of a reaction to her child saying he would rather die! August I don't hate, his mom on the other hand, I find despicable!

i don't think August is homophobic, he only recorded it because he knew it was Willem's room, he and his friends have this obsession of sticking their nose into the group's personal life, after recording he only realized who was with Willem it was Simon, but of course that doesn't take away from the fact that he was an idiot for recording someone being intimate and then exposing him just for being upset with Willem, he deserved to go to jail without a doubt.

I'm never going to stop saying that being mad at August for not selling the paintings that belonged to his father who JUST killed himself is very asshole-y. There are many reasons to hate him, but that's NOT one of them. I can only IMAGINE how hard and traumatizing it must be to lose a PARENT that way. To him probably anything his dad ever owned is like a piece of him, and he can't just sell him away. Everyone telling him to "just sell one or two paintings" does honestly make me feel sorry for him. Because I remember finding out my parents sold my grandpa's old rifles and it broke my heart to shreds. Imagine being told to be the one to sell them and it was your FATHER.
