I served with Jackson in Vietnam from 71' to 72'. He was a bit old for the war at the time, but his experience from his earlier service in Korea was essential for our battalion surviving that hellish jungle. He was small for his age then as he is now, but his sage wisdom earned his return to his beloved Indiana farmfields, where he's stewarded his family's land since his childhood in the 50's. I'm glad that now, in the twilight of his life, he's being noticed and respected.
