John Deere knows well another now slightly older, early 20's, and now married with their own rather large farm is Laura Wilson of the Laura Farms KZbin channel. She leased her first land at 16 also and I think it was a quarter. She does it all and most this year notched a new function with driving the 18 wheeler with loads of corn with load after load. She has filmed every function including the repairs and setup of equipment. Her dad has a red combine and JD tractors but she is all JD green at her farm.

Raised right..........but......living off of " families " not a " family " farmer ! This is the biggest problem now days. Not a sole operator !

Hats off to you ma'am I have the most high respect for you! Keep up the good work!! Pretty soon you'll be running the farm all by yourself! I'm working on goals to get me where I want to be in the AG industry I've already decided to get in the beef industry! So I'm in the process of getting my drivers license first but at the same time I'm looking at prices on used equipment!

There is no stereotype in farming. The entire family works the farm. She's chosen to follow the family farm. Good for her. Some leave for what they think will be better for them. Best wishes to her.

I am with thewaynester below. I hear of so many beginning farmers stories but yet they are not beginners. They are coming into an already well established farm. So there is no beginning. I am glad she is all in for farming but when you have all the equipment to do the farming.......I do not see the beginning part. Just my .02.

That goes maybe for a man but for a woman it is very difficult or nearly impossible to manage all the work on a farm, even when it's developed. Just imagine carrying heavy objects or repairing any stuff as a woman. I mean, as long as her father is there to keep things in place the farm will run...
@parttimefarmer2359 Жыл бұрын
@@karol259 I was not refering to the sex of the individual. The point is there is no beginning farmer. That would be a PERSON without ties to equipment, cosigner for operating loan, someone to back you up. Does not matter if woman or man....this is joining a coporation(existing farm). I do not see a 6 row planter. Do not sed 1960's or 70's tractor that all Begining farmers could only afford. We've lost touch with reality on what small beginning farmer would be.....that is the point.
@karol259 Жыл бұрын
@@parttimefarmer2359 That's right. I think society generally lost touch about what it really is starting from scratch and the real hardship related with it.

She may not start from the ground up, no pun intended, but her desire to carry on the family tradition is just as remarkable as starting new. Sorry you didn’t have it like that but dont be like that towards people with generational wealth. That’s what mom and dads across america want for their children.

Get her a 4 row corn planter, manual markers, open cab tractor, fill with manual bags, use an open spray coupe, and harvest with a pull type combine with a south wind of thistle fuzz coming down your neck. Oh, I am being mean...

Wait. So she owns her own land at age 16? And uses equipment from a corporation? And gets credit for driving that equipment? So she has no overhead? How much is that bill per acre from the corporation? I have so many questions. 😅😅

Why is it any more important if it’s female than a man? Why does sex or race such a focus? There are plenty of very young men doing the same thing…..because it’s a female we do a special segment on just women, but I thought we are taught to be equal? Oh yes the both ways thing

It’s a family owned corporation. It’s a a way to protect your personal assets from loss in case you get sued. It’s similar to an LLC.

IF you are talking about right to repair that goes across all manufacturers. Give it time it will change. The problem is yo have so few people wanting to repair the equipment themselves that it will take them time to listen. The same thing happen in the automotive industry when all the computers went on the vehicles they didn't want to release the software to no dealers but with enough pushing form the small shops they finally did. When you have 100 shops complain in a 100 mile radius you move faster then 10 shop complaining in the same size area.
