“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

I've seen techs price a refill based on lapsed time after the initial service. Ex. 2wk fill $40, 3wk fill $50, 4wk+ full set price $75. I think that'll be best as clients/customers may want to debate about a fill vs rebalance even after you educate them.

Hi Young Nails team, thank you for this amazing video. For nail technicians that are just getting started in the nail industry, what is the difference in price range for fills and re-balance? Also, if i have clients that come after two weeks for a fill but want a complete new set color and design, should i be charging it as a fill or re-balance? Thank you!
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 4 жыл бұрын
Should absolutely be charging a different price. Our pricing is typically 65 for a fill and 80 for a re-balance. May be different from your current pricing but that range of a difference is recommended.

Question with rebalance that is not french. Would u remove some of the bulk from the apex /flatten it out FIRST. Or apply product over regrowth to height of old apex THEN file it down at the end to reposition the Height/strength further back. I’ve been debulking first but then feel like I’m putting it all back on again and also like I’m filing/ debulking twice.

Nice job, Im soo glad you commented on the sticking issues... I use to do exactly that mistake. Oh... suggestion.... Caring for brushes, before during and after uses, storage etc. I swear, I still have my original brush from Cosmetology school. I took care of it as well as trimming, to get the correct shape for me. Luckily, I didn't screw it up. Back when I was in school, we received tons of OK items, a cpl Good to great and well.... buy bulk stuff.. lol. My brush was 1 of those items... my shears were TRASH ..lol. luckily I had an awesome bf back then, I was even surprised he volunteered to go to my first Convention, and student competition. Bought me a pair of Joewells, and an alligator skinned case and still have and use them. I saw so many ppl drop, break, throw, or leave theirs on the station when others had sticky fingers. Dropped them once after I cleaned and sanitized them while putting away products. Taught myself 1 thing. .. HOW MANY TIMES CAN I AFFORD A $150 PAIR OF SHEARS? note, this was 84 when he bought them... he saw me testing them and apparently snuck back while I was on stage, I thought he was grabbed drinks. So of course I wasn't watching him... turned around to grab my drape to see my surprise. You know how hard it was to not cry? Happy tears of course.... Anyhow... with Gel and acrylic plus paints, polishes etc.. Any suggestions?

@@youngnailsinc No hun.... Cleaning, storage, in between, during, afterwards. From purchase, first usage to death of it . WHAT WILL EXTEND THE BRUSHES LIFE! Being a stylist, chemical specialists, actually educated with Redkin labs in Canoga Park. I actually learned various products "back then" that were great to use. Hense my brush lasted so long. Ppl assume they use a brush cleanser, then all is fine. If they get acrylic or gel products in them.... Many ppl use Bad dandruff shampoo. Such as Head and Shoulders... worst product out there for your scalp let alone hair. So what do you use, need to use etc... Shampoos, conditioners, leave-on conditioners, products to avoid and all. Many ppl would want or need to learn that information.

How do you rebalance and refill if they want a different color nail do u file down the whole nail? And How long do u have to wait to remove the entire acrylic on the nail after doing many fills? Or is it just an ongoing cycle of fills and rebalances?

I have a question: I had a client who had previously gotten her nails done with another tech in my salon who used YN acrylic on her, she came in for a fill and I (mainly a hard gel tech) filled her with YN base and build. As I was filing it was as if the gel was flaking off just the acrylic part towards the middle, as if it didn’t adhere. I filed the acrylic with a 100 grit file so it shouldn’t have been buffed goo smooth. Any ideas why?

Is there a certain amount of refills or rebalances you can do before its too many and you need to just soak the set off and start fresh? Im starting to have clients come back for there 2 or 3 fill, but im not sure if i should keep filling or start fresh after a few fills.

Tracy - That was awesome, I think the best video you've done. This was exactly what I have been looking for, for over a year now. I was also trained old school in the fill - backfill era. We did a backfill/re-balance every 3 weeks to move that smile line back into place or to change the colored tip and move smile up (everyone wore a french, so you never did just a fill). Acrylic gets old and crumbly and so this also eliminated problems with that. I am trying to get back into nails after a very long break, and am so confused as to how things have changed, this helped a lot. Also those tips were great - keep them coming, I was taught more liquid needed too. Now what if a client is never getting a french done, when are you changing out that product off the tip? Also I don't think I have seen you mention broken nails, do you fix them for free at the fill? Do you guarantee your work, so broken's are free? Do you let them just book in for a nail or two repairs - is that free? And so on, and so on...... Could you do a video on that but relate it to the fill and re-balance with cost and time explained, like a part 2 to this one. Could you also include some lifting in that video too. Maybe lifting at the cuticle cause they waited to long for a fill (5-6 week) as well as free edge separation cause they are not using their cuticle oil, or a air pocket in dead center cause they closed finger in car door and it didn't break - but did pop. Ohhh - and do you charge more if it is a 4 week, 5 week etc. fill? Thank you so much and keep them coming ;)

I been having my clients come 4 weeks plus for fill and it’s taking me forever .. should I charge more ? I charge 45 for a fill ?
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
The average time between fills is generally 2-3 weeks. After that, it would be considered a re-balance and you would be charging more since you will be doing more work and using more product.
