I just started this video so I'm SO glad I see a comment that let's me know these work, and know I'm not wasting 15 mins watching this lol. Also what are you doing? Just your natural nails? I'm doing polygel for the first time EVER. I've never even tried doing my own nails before and my first set came out better than most SALONS do & the "unicorn chrome" powder I used & rhinestones I put on would have ***EASILY*** cost me around $80 (esp for a full set & not a fill). Plus its literally almost been a MONTH & i only have a SMALL amount of lifting on my pinky nail from hitting it off something. All the other nails are so grown out (lol) but COMPLETELY really still ON there. I'm literally AMAZED... I used to get my nails done at the salon for literally 15 plus yrs & a set NEVER lasted me longer than 2 weeks (& THAT'S pushing it) without lifting, chipping, cracking or just completely coming off smh. I am SOO glad I came across a polygel video & started really watching bc I bought a polygel starter kit that came w everything you need even a lamp, I got a drill & both for under $100. I'm so obsessed I ordered a TON more fun stuff for them (like diff polygel colors (literally a ton lmao, like neons, pastels, glitters),all different kinds of shapes & colors of rhinestones, little decorations & decals, I got a set of gel polishes (or maybe 2 or 3 😳😂🤣) but it's SOOOO worth it that I'll NEVER have to step in a salon AGAIN & honestly half the time I either left not liking my nails. Whether it was the way they shaped them, or the design/color even (I'm just one of those ppl who won't complain lol smh) & I'd notice they were either crooked, or lumpy in a spot or two, or they weren't fully painted like from sidewall to sidewall) & STILL always tipped good smh. This was so worth it. Sorry for the super long comment lol I'm just so passionate about certain things (makeup, hair, nails, dupes for "high end" crazy expensive stuff, tips & tricks for things I've learned to make my life easier on any & everything lol, & colored contacts...haha) I actually have a KZbin channel. It's pretty small but growing & it's mainly reviewing colored contacts right now but next time I do my nails (which will be very soon) & when I get this order shipped to me of some new makeup I just ordered which will also be soon like tomorrow or the next day) I'm planning on making videos about all of that stuff and really expanding my content. I'd love it if you joined my little family (lol) & subscribe! 💗💕🥰🌸🌻

My biggest problems with salons has always been that they pile on products (acrylic, gel), and my nails get so thick that When I try to scratch an itch, it’s like rubbing a ball on my skin (for lack of better metaphor). I love a sharp edge and my nails looking real but long. I am a terrible peeler of gel too so it has to just blend all around the edge. Where I live there are no true nail artists. Can’t even find many that do flowers (just stickers). I love doing my own nails and have learned to do ombré and flowers from KZbin. It’s meditative and I can quickly fix any chipping myself (or worse when I have anxiety and start peeling it). My right hand is always harder of course, as a right-handed person. I’m also always doing home projects and gardening that would quickly destroy and professional manicure. I like when someone comments my nails and I can truly say thank you because I did it myself. It’s such an expensive thing to have someone else do. If you can learn to do what you like it is so worth it!! Also far less risk of an infection from some random salon not taking care of their tools or those videos of cutting cuticles to harsh redness. I don’t ever cut my cuticles and they are fine and not noticeable.

If you have thin/weak nails, they may be too flexible for the hard gel. If you are just wanting a natural nail overlay on a short nail, we would recommend using the Fiber Gel. This works great on thin/brittle or damaged nails. It is very flexible but it has micro fibers in it to give extra durability.

The worst thing a person can do to their nails is buff the top shiny layer off. Its impossible to grow long nails while continuing to buff that layer off. You will NEVER be able to keep your own natural nails without expensive mani's that add so many layers that need to harden with special lights etc because of the damage thats been done by that ridiculously damaging buffing...i have fabulous natural nails because i never allow anyone to buff the top layer off. Period. Thats how women become slaves to having to have expensive mani's. The second u dont have expensive layers of professional stuff done ur nails are gone because uv taken off the top protecting layer.

Bought my first gel polish setup today, and decided to have a go with about 2.5 hours before work. The learning curve was *steep* but I'm pretty proud of how they came out despite teaching myself on the fly. I'm watching this video after work, even though I won't be changing my polish for at least a week. My biggest mistake was picking up too much base coat, the first finger (my pinky) is THIOCC. But I'm stoked to have a more durable option since my line of work fucks up my nails within a couple of days.

Just recently starting doing my nails again, after discovering gel polish and how fast it dries compared to old-school nail polish. I've never gotten the "peeling" or "lifting" issue, however it's been hard re-learning the dexterity to not end up with polish all over the edges of my fingers, especially when using my left hand to do my right nails! I try to clean them up before curing, because it definitely hardens the gel onto the flesh, which gets HOT, but sometimes I miss a spot, and I've had to resort to using the stuff that's meant to remove gel polish from nails in like 5 minutes. And that does work, it lets you scrape off the missed spots, but damn it burns! It also does what you said, if the part that's misplaced is on the cuticle, it leaves a ridge that I CANNOT leave alone, so I end up trying to file it smooth right there at the cuticle. That works, if I don't go crazy with the file, but it can leave the base of the nail a little unsightly, if I'm not very careful. My nails have always been thick and strong, but as I've gotten older, I've noticed that they're a little thinner and more bendy than they used to be, and a couple of them developed odd quirks like a vertical split, or starting to peel and get ragged at the tip, which meant that for those nails, I could never grow them long. Builder in a Bottle is a godsend, allowing me to grow even my troublesome nails long! A few of my other nails have the vertical ridges, which is very unsightly with regular polish, but again, Builder in a Bottle to the rescue! It smoothes them so nicely, you'd never know that their natural state has those ridges. I've got some of the thicker Builder, but it seems to be harder to learn how to use it. Maybe in time, with more experience, I can use the thicker Builder gel more expertly. My biggest issue is my perennially ragged cuticles. I started back doing my nails just so I could finally, hopefully, stop picking at the damn things, but so far that hasn't happened. I got some of the Sally Hansen cuticle remover, and use the "buffing" bit in my efile to try and remove/smooth those cuticles, and they're better, but still having issues. I can't understand how all the nail models have such perfect, nearly cuticle-less nails!

Great video. I love being able to do gel nails at home. I just learned that I need to clean up my polish on my skin before curing. I usually just pick it off over the next couple of days but I never thought that is starting to lift the polish. I usually have great luck and I’m bored before the polish comes off. At least 2wks. But my last manicure it was peeling within 48 hrs. I think it was my bonding polish or whatever it’s called. The liquid you put on before the base coat or as you said it might be my light. It’s probably 3 years old and I don’t use it much but it might be time for a new one. Anyway great video. I appreciated it. Thanks :)

When I was a kid I used to buy polish and didn't understand why some dried goopy and others didn't. Gell wasn't very well labeled. Usually there'd be a wall stand of polish, with a brand name signed above and on the bottles. But the labels below the bottles only had the price and colour name... no mention anywhere of whether it was gell or acrylic. I only realized gell exists, and needed UV to dry, once my town got internet in 2010 and I started watching youtube videos.

You wouldn't top coat after each layer of gel polish, just at the end.

Can anyone elaborate on what she said about not using protein bond if you’re gonna soak?
@youngnailsinc4 жыл бұрын
Protein bond helps everything adhere better so if you apply protein bond so if you are planning to soak off you wouldn't want to apply protein bond to the full surface of the nail. If soaking you would only want to apply to the tip of the nail so when the client returns you have no issues removing the gel polish.

Oh my gosh! I finally started using gel dip powder and making my nails pretty for the first time ever-my nails are super thin and always break so it’s been a lifelong “nope can’t have pretty nails” thing. So I’m excited!!! And have been having all these issues, ha…thanks so much for this FABULOUS video! Would you mind letting us know what’s in that bottle you used to clean the mail after you buff it up? So no acetone, no soap, no oil…is it just water??? Thank you SO MUCH!!! I can finally have pretty nails!!

I don't know if you have talked about this before and in which video.. Thanks!

We actually have a full biztalk discussing mixing brands. The main this is it is not how we test the products so we really can't gaurentee the results

Ever since Covid (& having 3 kids now lol, I had 2 back to back that are only 1 and 2 as I'm writing this lol) & a 12 yr old so I could barely afford it anymore but I'm SO GLAD that I came across a polygel video...I've never even tried doing my own nails before and my first set came out better than most SALONS do & the "unicorn chrome" powder I used & rhinestones I put on would have ***EASILY*** cost me around $80 (esp for a full set & not a fill). Whether it was the way they shaped them, the design/color (even though I picked it sometimes u just don't like it once they start doing the design or using that certain color, & I'm just one of those ppl who won't complain lol smh) & I'd notice they were either crooked, lumpy in a spot or two, or they weren't fully painted like from sidewall to sidewall & if I noticed these things I feel like they DEFdid , just didnt care smh) but STILL always tipped good smh. This was so worth it. LITERALLY one of THE BEST investments I've ever made for myself. 💗💕🥰🌸🌻

Question, why does it burn a bit when I put my hand into the led/uv lamp. It’s a new lamp and I’m using a beginners kit Gellen soak off gel polish. I remember it doing that too when I would go to salons. Is that normal?
@julianadelacruz57713 жыл бұрын
Hey, I’m a beginner nail tech and yes, it’s normal to burn when you put the gel and into the uv lamp
@martinageorgieva83074 жыл бұрын
I go to salons to have gel manicures because I like the way it looks and I want to have a pretty and well done manicure. I don't want something that will sit on my nails for weeks and I certainly might not be back every two weeks to get a new one so I want my nails to look like they looked prior to putting the gel on them. I also have extremely sensitive nails and I hate the feeling of the file on them so I definitely will not let the nail technician do this. So in this respect I don't really see it as a mistake and I don't agree that gel is an enhancement. I see it as a more durable alternative to normal polish. Otherwise, lovely video! xxx

Thankfully I’ve never had any issues no matter the brand or color, my biggest thing is there anyway to save a gel polish when it becomes to thick? In regular polish you can add a few drops of acetone or even a good nail polish remover to make it as thin as you want and it doesn’t mess up the Sally’s fast dry polishes but what can we do for a gel polish? Or is it just garbage 🗑
@youngnailsinc2 жыл бұрын
Generally if a gel polish has gotten thick, it has been exposed to light or if it is a hybrid gel (gel polish and traditional polish mix) that has dried out, there isn't much you can do to thin it out. To avoid it getting thick, keep it away from curing light sources, including sunlight and keep the bottles closed tightly when not in use.

Wow, Ive been making all these mistakes. No wonder why Ive been so fustrated. I actually gave up doing my nails months ago because I was tired of it taking me 3 hours to only have my nails last a couple of days. Ive been interested in gel builder mainly because of its self leveling property but was unsure it was worth giving it another go. Thank you thank you!!!

If I applied a gel overlay on natural nails. And buffed or cleansed the tacky layer off. Do I need to apply base before gel polish?
@youngnailsinc4 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't want to buff or remove the tacky layer that will result in peeling. If for some reason the tacky layer must be removed you can re protein bond but definitely don't want to buff
@ligaskirbauska86524 жыл бұрын
Gel polish don’t needs base gel or tacky layer,it just don’t want to stick on glossy finish...frankly don’t know what they say,but I use gel polish just as gel,can be used on acrylics,gels,we constantly paint,draw things even in layers..just clensed won’t be ok,but if you buff and just get dust with brush off go ahead and use gel polish directly,no need to dehydration any liquids,extra steps,just buff,dust apply...Tested on me and my friends and clients million times,for over 15 years,gel polish holds grate without any protein bond,even if I like protein bond,but I don’t use it in layers as they do,I use it only on natural nails first layer after dehydration more I consider it marketing step,unnecessary for for artist and clients but good for company selling product...

I've always wondered if curing your nails 2x30 seconds is the same as curing them 1x60 seconds. Does anybody know?
@oceannelecours3 жыл бұрын
yes it's the same. they put these options because some polish needs to be cured 60sec and others only 30.

Really informative video but could anyone tell me that could i skip base coat before hard gel application and before gel polish application
@youngnailsinc2 ай бұрын
You always want to use hard gel base before your overlay and extensions. Base has the most resin in it and is the foundation for your application. As for base gel for gel polish, you want to use base if the gel polish requires it. On the natural nails, yes you need base. On top of an enhancement, like acrylic or hard gel, base is not necessary before gel polish color because the enhancement acts as a base. If using our go-time gel polishes or fiber gel, those do not need a base coat before them.

Hi what is the difference of nail dehydrate and protein nail?
@youngnailsinc2 жыл бұрын
Protein bond is a non acid primer.. it doesn’t chemically etch the nail like a traditional primer does. Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product. Here is a video on Protein Bond & how to use it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYqbfKmMgK-fh6c

Thank you so much for the video. 🥰🥳😘I have worked at “natural nail salons” only we don’t use drills... a lot of my guest have had experiences with people that don’t know how to use drills properly and therefore messing up their natural nail to the point of trauma... there anyway you can do any videos with nail files on all 10 fingers and then follow thru with the full service? Do you cap the free edge of the nail with Gel ? I am having a problem with doing a gel Service within 50 minutes, and every guest will have their own nail story which can make or break this 50 minute time frame it’s something I am trying to master.
@youngnailsinc4 жыл бұрын
Speed comes with time, don't stress it. We don't stress the capping since we use protein bond, other than for the look. We have full service videos under the category of "Real time"
@nicolenedaniels91833 жыл бұрын
So it's better to put that primer back on over the fake nail before applying gel? I thought you could just put gel over the fake nail because it's rough and the gel will adhere

so if I understand correctly; If I want to use a product that is ultimately removed with acetone, is it smart not to use protine bond? and is that the same as primer ? Thank you very much for your clear videos. it is super educational for me as a beginner. It's a shame that the live's are a bit late for me since I live in the Netherlands, but I like to watch them again in the morning.
@youngnailsinc4 ай бұрын
Correct. You definitely still can use protein bond, but it does such a good job at adhering product that it will be harder to soak off. Protein bond is a non acid primer.. it doesn’t chemically etch the nail like a traditional primer does. Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product.
