PRO TEACHES BEGINNER GEL OVERLAY - VLOG 166

Finally Greg teaches me how to do gel, specifically a gel overlay. I have never done gel before and I have to say, I really think I like it, maybe more than acrylic. The fact that I don’t have to think about the consistency is huge right? Like, there is no liquid to product ratio…. Although I have to say there are very few things in the world more satisfying than getting that perfect acrylic pearl… ahhhhhhhh so nice it is… ok, time to snap out of it. Sorry gel, this time is about you, and only you. You’re my little baby gel! You my girl! I did find that gel is probably going to be a tad easier than acrylic, but its just so different. I hope you enjoy my first take on gel, I really did lean a lot… the journey continues.

Absolutely loving the step by step demos with someone who is not a tech so all the issues a beginner has is being addressed. Only wish I could have gone to a school like yours. My instructors were not nail techs so I got just enough to learn what I needed to pass state boards but everything after has been trial and error and asking alot of questions of other professionals. Once I found out owner of school was really only into the hair portion of the business and was calling a former student of her school to ask her for answer to my questions I turned to you guys and other qualified pros online and KZbin for videos. So thank you these have been a lifesaver for the ones of us that were not fortunate enough to have trained under better instructors

I used this method today and it turned out so much better than before. I have been doing this client for a year with your gel and just been not getting it right. Today was a turn around. She loved them even more. I was able to then paint so close to the cuticle. Right on. Thank you so much!!

I just tried the technique of 'splitting' the gel down the middle to get a good cuticle/sidewall area and I was really surprised at how much easier it made the application and for the first time ever my application was completely smooth, bearly needing filing! Fab tutorial guys!

I tell you, I needed this video very much! Gel application is my weakest area. I spend too much time manipulating gel during the build to get it perfect and tend to fall behind during service time. I personally much prefer the slip layer technique because I am all about reducing my filing time and I feel like I can get a more smooth and perfected shape all in the first go!! It was, however, very interesting to see a different technique and Habib did a great job👍

You two are fun...great video...I have lost my nail lady and there is no one else in my area....letting my nails grow since having to remove my old product from covid...couple of fingers slightly thinned out as they were too grown out after two months, and I want them healthy before I start, but I will practice practice I in the meantime. I am kind of remote so no other options...I have been practicing like a maniac and am doing pretty good for my own taste...so I just bought both your acrylic and your gel...if I am goi g to do this I want the best...looking forward to practicing learning more before I practice on myself...being an artist helps...Just going to do it for myself.
