I first heard this song on the radio in the car with my dad when I was 5 years old. I had alot of trips to the hospital & doctors( I had open-heart surgery at age 4) I learned all the words to the song, and still know them all to this day.❤

This was one of the first songs I heard back in the mid-1970s when I started listening to the radio. It makes me sad in a way because it it stirs up memories of a part of my life that is irrevocably gone. Glen Campbell was enormously talented.

I heard this song for the 1st time in God only knows how many years, when I had breakfast at a favorite diner, 2 weeks ago. Just like Glen Campbell's 1967 hit, GENTLE ON MY MIND, the lyrics of RHINESTONE COWBOY also brings tears to my eyes! Whoa! What wonderous voice he had!

When I was a little girl my parents were watching Glen Campbell and Bobby Sherman sing on a show and when it was my bed time I ran to the tv and kissed them goodnight. 🤭
@mitchellanderson30683 жыл бұрын
When I was a little boy my parents were reading a story about Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell and one Robert “Bobby” Shmurda battling the U.S. court system for the content of their lyrics (albeit, under starkly different circumstances ). I slid across the living room floor, looked my parents dead and the eye and said, “they think that I’m Tom Cruise, but bitch I’m bobby with that tool”, before kissing them both goodnight. Those were better days.

I've been walkin' these streets so long Singin' the same old song I know every crack in these dirty sidewalks of Broadway Where hustle's the name of the game And nice guys get washed away like the snow in the rain There's been a load of compromising On the road to my horizon But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me Like a rhinestone cowboy Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo Like a rhinestone cowboy Getting cards and letters from people I don't even know And offers comin' over the phone Well, I really don't mind the rain And the smile can hide all the pain But you're down when you're ridin' the train that's takin' the long way And I dream of the things I'll do With a subway token and a dollar tucked inside my shoe There'll be a load of compromisin' On the road to my horizon But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me Like a rhinestone cowboy Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo Rhinestone cowboy Gettin' cards and letters from people I don't even know And offers comin' over the phone Like a rhinestone cowboy Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo Like a rhinestone cowboy Gettin' cards and letters from people I don't even know Like a rhinestone cowboy
