In 1969 I was drafted and left Youngstown Ohio. I came back briefly in 1973 after military service, but 2 years later went back in the Army and made it a career. After being away for 50 years my wife and I moved back to North Jackson. We could not believe the condition of the city, crime, poverty, black on black crime out of control, Lordstown Assembly plant closed. After 2 1/2 years we sold out and bought a farm in southwestern Ohio. My wife has family in Campbell, a suburb, but we will never go back. I have my family buried there and we visit once a year. It is sad because I remember Y-Town when all the industry was thriving. It was a great place to grow up.

Thank you for posting this area of the East Side of Youngstown. Ive been in Florida since 1987 and off of McGuffey Road , on Miami Avenue, is where I lived. The old elementary school I attended John White, and Science hill Middle School and North High School on Liberty Rd. They tore down John White...so sad.
