Thank you! I really like that you show the DAYS to certain sizes! Everything from the sprouts, seedlings, baby plants, and ready-to-harvest sizes. I always wonder about that info - but so few videos share it. SUBSCRIBED and clicked the Bell too! (HONEST gardening videos are so appreciated.)

Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing to my channel. I'm thrilled to hear that you found value in the way I presented the growth process of these plants, from sprouts to ready-to-harvest sizes. It's wonderful to know that my efforts to provide honest and informative gardening videos are appreciated. I must say, it's not always easy to capture the entire process in one video, but your feedback makes it all worth it. Thank you again for your support! :)

Absolutely, totally agree. I would have hundreds of videos without making the effort to go through all the steps, the videos result would be pointless. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thx for this video! I'm growing kohlrabi for the 2nd time this summer. The 1st time a rabbit ate every single plant down to its roots a week after I planted them. So sad. Now I have a cage to protect them. Hoping for kohlrabi this yr. They're doing ok in pots but keep getting leaf borers, big time. Any advice to stop them?

Phenomenal video to help out a newbie! This is my first time growing. What straw system do you use to water your plants after you move the seedlings into pots?
@YouPlantTube
@YouPlantTube Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I used a plastic water bottle container and made a whole on the screwing cap big enough to force a flexible plastic hose, by gently squeezing I can regulate the water from the plastic tube. This is ideal as to not disturb the shallow seed that was planted.

It looks like you planted the seedlings deeper (to where leaves started) each time you transplanted. Is that correct? Does that help encourage stronger roots systems?
@YouPlantTube
@YouPlantTube 4 жыл бұрын
I planted the seeds at the appropriate depth according to the seed package, and then planted the seedlings deeper to where the leaves would grow, every time that I had changed to a larger container, So yes it does encourage stronger roots system. Good Question.

Yes, I also can sow seeds directly into the ground again in February/March. When you have a Mediterranean climate this is possible. The location of the seeds planted can be equivalent to a zone 10A

Thanks for the video I've never eaten it but I have some seeds growing. Glad you showed they can be transplanted in bigger cups. Mine has been under a grow light for 7 days. I'm try that also. I'm in zone 8a. When will I be ready to harvest? I'm also going to plant in raise bed.
@YouPlantTube
@YouPlantTube 4 жыл бұрын
That's a difficult question to answer and unfortunately, I have never grown this vegetable in zone 8 using grow lights. The only advice I can really give you is to be patient. Kohlrabi has a growing temperature range check the seed packet to see if you are within tolerance of the temps to figure out how long you have left to grow them.

@YouPlantTube
@YouPlantTube 3 ай бұрын
In Far North Queensland, Australia, you can plant kohlrabi seeds during the cooler months of the year, typically from April to August. This timing allows the plants to grow during the milder temperatures of the region. Ensure you choose a sunny location with well-draining soil for optimal growth. Happy planting! @@amyjohnson7604 To grow this vegetable optimum and as fast as possible from experience it needs at least 2 months of good cool temperatures otherwise it struggles to grow. Unfortunately, the area where I'm situated around the Mediterranean Sea struggles to produce cold temperatures for a sufficient amount of time for this to occur, (which is equivalent to zone 10b) otherwise, it may need 3 to 4 months before it's ready to be harvested. I also checked the video file when it was created at the time period mentioned, yes 14th of December.
