Really great video. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Just picked up a 71 gmc 5500 at auction. The drive home I led the parade at 80kph max. Old girl just a screaming away at that speed already

Funny how 60 mph in one of these trucks looks a lot like blasting off into outer space. 🤣 I love it!

It's more fun to drive a slow vehicle fast, then a fast vehicle slow.

Had not encountered one of those mounts in my time as a mechanic. Then again I was automotive, not heavy duty. Best days to you Roy !

Good stuff at least what I saw, I will have to come back and finish as my eyelids keep getting in the way of my eyes. Happy Motor and good night.

Good info to know Roy when considering a build. Maybe an overdrive would be helpful if you did very much highway driving. Cheers Roy

Yes lloyd you're right, also I'm looking to put 22.5 tires on it one day that will also increase my final drive.

Thanks. My 366 has the horse shoe mount but figured the BBC is a longer block. But that crossmember looks to be about same place as mine is. So that does give me some peace in going forward with it once weather gets better here. Thanks for sharing. And keep the videos coming.
@RoyMarkosGarageRMG2 жыл бұрын
If you're not too far away I could send you my extra small block mount if you like.
@jamesferrell94042 жыл бұрын
@@RoyMarkosGarageRMG are they different from the big block? I live in Tennessee. Not sure how to even go about getting something like that shipped. I did pull my 366T out and measured. Best I can tell its 2 inches longer than my SBC so got to modify the front mount or something
@jamesferrell94042 жыл бұрын
Thank you for doing this video. I did manage to get engine swapped. Had to narrow the horse shoe mount to fit the small block drill two holes so it would align and extend the motor mount a additional two inches so I could bolt it to crossmember. Wasnt to complicated when I got enough nerve to just try it. Trying to figure out what to do about radiator hoses as the inlet and outlet is much smaller on the SBC. But happy with the swap. As that 366T was nothing but trouble and costly to fix

Those trucks are real work horse. I imagine they don't like freeway miles though.

No, not really, they hate it, but it works great!

Some of those old tachs have a dip switch to preset according to the number of engine cylinders. Was it set to read 8 cylinders? The RPMs will read higher than actual on either a 4 or 6 cylinder setting.
@RoyMarkosGarageRMG2 жыл бұрын
That's correct it was set to 8 cylinders.

How accurate was your speedometer at 60 miles per hour?
@RoyMarkosGarageRMG2 жыл бұрын
As far as I know my speedometer is spot on, but I have not verified with GPS, also every vehicle (and even new ones) the speedometer is about 5% slower than GPS.
