I've seen so many youtubers with sr22s and so many of them never 'clear' before starting. One time when watching I heard an excuse saying it's difficult to do it in this aircraft due to the design of the door. To all those pilots out there take a look at every single one of Niko's videos. He opens the door every single time. Being a great pilot is all in the details.

I don’t get that clear prop ritual at all. I’m gonna piss some of by referencing us in Europe but honestly this does not exist here. A) there’s usually not many people on the apron anyway and B) when you see someone boarding his plane, who kind of walks near the prop?
@CAPFlyer4 жыл бұрын
@@maesc2001 The words "clear prop", while originally for actually clearing the area around the prop(s), is used more today to let people in the area to know that you're about to start the engine and to just be aware. Just because someone isn't in your prop area doesn't mean that someone's not behind you and not ready to get blasted by the propwash should you fire up. Also, I'm not sure about Europe, but there's plenty of people who get in their plane and take 10-15 minutes before they start the engine, so just assuming that everyone on the ramp saw you get in is taking a pretty big risk that can be alleviated by such a simple action.
@ryebred4 жыл бұрын
99% of the people that actually do yell “clear prop” then go on to start the engine 1 sec or less after yelling it which makes it pretty ineffective at doing anything.

My issue is the location of the delay. If the controller was told there was a problem with the plane, why was no personal communication made in that time. How long would they have allowed him to be at the runway line? While the situation seems so minor and petty, the response seems like he is very close to some serious issues. Tower facilities should outwardly appear to have a culture of safety first and only. Here the officials say wrong information was given and then a different person allowed him to sit there with no communication. Something reeks in that tower.

My speculative guess is that ground controller said a different aircraft had an issue. The tower controller confused them for you. Honest mistake.
@NikosWings4 жыл бұрын
They never said that
@CAPFlyer4 жыл бұрын
I'd more believe that Ground heard another aircraft saying something about a problem and confused them with Niko and then told Tower that Niko was having a problem than Tower mis-hearing Ground. Either way - it was odd for Tower to say that she was waiting for release at first and then not confirm whether you had a problem and only "realizing" the confusion after Niko said something.
@Chris_the_Muso4 жыл бұрын
Regardless, if a pilot asks for clearance, you don't then turn around and tell them they have a problem with their aircraft unless you've completely messed up. If there really had been a problem with the aircraft in that location (blocking approach to the runway), the controller would have (should have) been asking Niko for status and his intentions. It's not making a lot of sense. The overheating issue is potentially a serious one, and the supervisor covering up mistakes is an even more serious one. Niko was understandably pissed. The tower should have owned the problem and undertaken to review the procedures that failed in this case. I'm guessing there's a method for going over the supervisors head and reporting the incident, which might not be a bad idea considering the lacklustre response.
@gomphrena-beautifulflower-80434 жыл бұрын
Chris Robinson • Potentially dangerous, indeed; as in, the ATC (where, when and type aircrafts involved escapes me now) may well have “forgotten” Niko had he been lined up on the runway to depart. Then she might have given landing clearance to an approaching passenger jet. This scenario really happened and many were killed as a result.
