Hi Allen, as mystified as you are. However I will patiently wait in hopes that a solution comes along to rectify / stop the fault. Love these little teasers. Regards, Brian 👍👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

What is the difference between HDMI and HDMI-CEC cable? Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is a feature of HDMI designed to allow users to command and control devices connected through HDMI by using only one remote control. For example, by using the remote control of a television set to control a soundbar, set-top box and or Blu-ray player.

The ports one and two seem to have a buffering issue. The one thing I would check is the solder connections on HDMI one. That is the most used port and could have a stress fracture on both boards. Reflow the old board and try it again.

Remember the SCART days even a basic scart cable would work as intented, then you got the heavy quality cables which use to force the plug out of the socket usually at the cable end, then someone thought a flat cable was better with high quality metal plugs..but HDMI should work even on a basic cable no need for all the fancy high quality cores of cable ,back in the day of HI-FI seperates you would often get RCA phono leads bundled they were not fancy & they worked.

The red thing looks like a power button, which is possibly an indication of HDMI FED (connected equipment control) which allows the device to turn the tv of or in when it's turned off or on. A typical use is for say a sky box, you switch sky box on, it turns tv on, or switcheroo turn it off it turns tv off

My LG sets have that setting, it's probably just LG marketing terminology for standard RGB without chroma subsampling. I would expect Samsung to have some equally grandiose term for it. I had to shop around for some time to find a 5 meter cable that wouldn't drop signal with uncompressed 4K video from a desktop PC. Your problem seems to be different though, you're not asking that much of the TV or the cable.

The deep colour they were talking about is the HDMI UHD Colour mode which you turned on it is off by default and only affect 4k content, it should not affect the tv detecting a hdmi signal.

Except when it does. I have an Nu7400 that will not see my HD Blue Ray player at all if UHD colour is not enabled on the port it's plugged into. Most other things, sure makes no difference....

The setting people are referring to changes the characteristics of the HDMI port to accept higher bandwidth signals. Each manufacturer has their own name for it. Turning it OFF will reduce the data rate allowing a poor quality cable to work or a failing HDMI port to struggle on, The reason you cannot find it is because Samsung dont call it that , In this TV the setting is called HDMI UHD Colour (Settings -> General -> External Device Manager -> HDMI UHD COLOUR). If a port never works then try re-writing the EDID from the Factory Menu. If it is erratic the HDMI socket cound be damaged. The 'unknown' thing is a highly annoying feature that attempts to label every port with the name of the connected device.

What is HDMI Deep Colour technology in Samsung Home Theaters? HDMI Deep Colour lets you output video from the HDMI OUT jack with higher colour depth in Samsung Home Theatres. Deep colour provides more accurate colour reproduction with greater colour depth. Deep colour expand the colours on the display from millions to billions. This gives the display a vividness and colour accuracy which has never been seen before in display technology. But i agree, you shouldn't need to turn something off to get it to working ...

I've experienced similar odd behavior with the Smatboards in the school where I'm a Physics technician. The board specifications limit the length of HDMI leads to 4.75m, but using (high quality) leads over 4m cause problems. intermittent loss of signal or failure to recognise connected computer/DVD. Often switching to standby and back on sorts the issue. Sometimes completely rebooting (mains off/on) solves the issue for a week or two.No long term solution though.

I remember having similar problems with my new lg lcd 42" 200hz which is now at least 10 years old. But this happened after 10-15 minutes of use from the time the TV screen was first turned on that day. from cold

My dad used to frequently call me around to sort his TV system out because he would by £100 monster SCART cables that would just fall out as they were too heavy for the plugs. The amount of times I would tell him a good quality cable was all he needed not a £100 SCART cable that always fall out. And that's almost right for HDMI as long as the signal gets there and doesn't drop out then it should just work. I have my pc sending 4k/60fps to my TV over a 10m HDMI cheap cable from eBay and it just works. The TV should just work , you shouldn't need to know what all the settings mean just to get it to work. Also Deep colour, would that be 10bit/8bit ?

My Samsung TV responds to my Panasonic BlueRay in exactly the same way but otherwise works perfectly, The point seems to be that Samsung Doesn’t like Panasonic. And if I plug the Panasonic into my Denton AVR it behaves very badly and I cannot watch any other source. That’s why I have the Panasonic connection made between to the TV directly,

Perhaps a close under-a-microscope visual inspection of HDMI 1 is required, both externally and internally. Supposedly there is an HDMI troubleshooting mode under support-self diagnostics but I have no idea whether this will provide anything useful.

Hi Allen. Do you have any answer as to why so many LCD monitors struggled so much with the image stuttering and flickering when images moved quickly across the screen? I have experienced this with both LG. Samsung LCD. screens I have owned. doesn't help if they are 200Hz top model or 100Hz lowest model, same problem. Do you have any explanation, experiences? You have functional (100hz motion plus) settings and the like which did not work so well. My theory is that the image processor was always too weak. Could also be hdmi input which is too slow. Sorry if I'm using the wrong words. Do you have any explanation, experiences?

Hi Allen, wonder if it’s just a problem with hdmi-1 ? Anynet+ is a function that will switch on or off any device connected by hdmi when the tv is switched on/off As mentioned in a previous comment, HDMI UHD Colour expands the hdmi signal to make the most of any input higher than standard 1080p eg 4k. I do not have this option enabled on my current Samsung tv, it seems to make no difference to a normal HD source

Hi Allen - do you ever fix boards or just swap them out?
@allenfleckney5969

@@Lyndalewinder It all depends on what is best for the customer. If it’s cost effective to repair then yes every time. But individual components can be more expensive than a new board.

@@allenfleckney5969such a shame, only made in 2021 month 7! The lines are only visible close up, don't notice as much when you're a meter away from the screen. Think it's a Vestel panel rather than a branded one when I cleaned up the t con cable hoping that would work.
