Nice Job! I called my Loving mother a bad word ONCE! I was grounded for over a year. Not tv, music, telephone, or friends over. I could do sports thank goodness. I was too young for this lesson at that time. But I read every encyclopedia and book in the house. Bible from cover to cover twice. At 9 months I asked Dad if I could be ungrounded and you would have thought I just called her that name again! “I said till I tell you you’re not! Don’t ask me again!” I didn’t ask again either! Love that man for teaching me to respect her! I cared for both of them in old age (I’m a nurse now) my mom passed from cancer and my dad a few years later at 91 years old. Miss them both every day! Never again did my son ever lay hands on me or his sisters from that day forth. He is a good hard working man now (24) married with a 13 months old son of his own. I was 12 or so when, as a joke, I sneaked across the front of the house to the office window and tapped on it to scare my mom. She was startled good, and I had a little laugh. However, my dad saw her reaction (and, like her, thought someone was breaking in!). He very calmly took me to his room and gave me a spanking. The spanking certainly hurt, but what has stuck with me was afterwards when he very levelly said, "Don't you ever scare my wife." That was the only time he ever refered to her as "my wife" instead of "your momma." I had many well-deserved spankings throughout my childhood, and of course some made me a bit salty, but that one left me with immense admiration for my dad.

Homeboy should have been running the minute Dad started pulling off that belt if he was smart. I still have PTSD from that move and I'm over 50 yo. 🙄😲 But for the record in my house my kids didn't get the "wait til your dad get's home" because daddy was a long-haul truck driver. Daddy wasn't getting home for weeks. Momma was right there right now and she would make sure you got what was coming to you right NOW!!! Both my boys are grown men now and they are both nearly a foot taller than me but they both have respect for their mom. I don't yell. I don't scream. I didn't do it then even. Nope - all four of my kids listened for two things: 1) mommy stops talking and starts counting backwards.- This was the only warning you got. That meant they were supposed to stop whatever you were doing. Think about it. If you were cutting up you were expected to stop it right now and fix your behavior or suffer the consequences. 2) Mommy is talking but her voice got REALLY LOW! This was DEFCON 1. Something bad happened and mom was really upset. The only time this was not a major reason to fear was if she was sick which rarely happened or if somebody died. My husband may have been the head of the household but I was pretty much everything else.

My grown son ticked me off once. He was in college and hung up on me on the phone. I called him back, luckily he answered. I let him know if he ever did that to me again I'd be showing up at the college looking for my sweet little baby boy . . . In my pajamas with no makeup and my hair up and rollers. Funny... That never happened again. 😊

I hung up on my mom plenty of times when she got me upset. It's better to do that than to stay on the phone and say something that you'll know you will regret.

@@deadcell1 and she prob deserved it. had it been that way with us, sure no prob. however it was something because of his girlfriend wanting MY money after he had spent everything he had saved. no way was she going though my cash as well. not to mention, my children had never done that because they knew better. mommy was/is a good mom . his girl was being greedy, i said nope, she told him to hang up. IF he was still with us (lost him at 26 to cancer) he still would not talk to me like that. hopefully your mom deserved it. if not, im sure you would or have since said sorry bout that as my son did. thanks for the comment. God bless u and your mom.
