The Wrexham industrial site was built on a massive WW2 Munitions factory with it's own train station and water treatment works. The lakes you were seeing was probably part of the water treatment works, so who knows what was left there to make that lake that colour. Might be interesting to see what other industrial sites were built on, you never know what you might find.

I use the National Library of Scotland O/S map archives to explore the location history. The map page is similar google maps, zoom in and pin the audit site, it will show O/S maps available to view up to 1970. Sometimes it also lists the name of businesses and 1948 aerial photos. For ROF Wrexham, it shows the site layout and the many storage bunkers on the 1964 & 1968 map. Also many drains and small pits among the storage bunkers and ponds not historic. Often up to the 1950s airfield, ordnance factories, shipyards were censored on the O/S maps then details appear on the 1960s revisions. The old factory roof shown in DJ's Milliken Carpet video, Wigan, was Royal Ordnance Factory No. 15 until sold and repurposed in 1959. DJ's Royston video (Johnson) was a small munitions depot supplying nearby RAF Bassingbourn, Another large industrial estate that maintained the layout was ROF Thorpe Arch explored by BP Visits.

The lakes are that colour because they've added Algae treatment to prevent green water this is a concentrated blue fluid. Great video

the colour could be if its a commercial fishing venue or something, dyes can be added to reduce algae and vegetation growth by blocking some of the sunlight (google could probably explain it better) but it's fairly common in the states and is used in a few places iv fished in the UK too

Great interaction with security awesome job to Very Group and move from Liverpool. Awesome DJ ⭐⭐⭐👍 The site used to be XPO Logistics and units and land available for development in 2009 & 2011. The circular guard house seen in the 2009 street view. At the other entrance TDG Logistics occupied the warehouses at the far end then later XPO. 2022 the property including the gate house and main Very Group unit and four warehouses was sold by the owner and noted Very Group as the tenant with 9 years remaining on 10 year lease. The pond is not included in the industrial site. Property sale hade a 12 page brochure. In addition, Very Group sold their Liverpool headquarters building in 2021 so they may want to update their page if relocated to Wrexham. Site offer 711,633 ft2 warehouse space over 45.9 acres. Historically, the land was agricultural likely part of Upper Bryn Farm across the road and adjacent to the ROF Wrexham. Bryn Lane was realigned when the industrial estate was developed.

Area was historically agricultural. During World War 2 the industrial estate was Royal Ordnance Factory Wrexham and much of the estate included storage bunkers. This and Net Sports was farm land bordering the ROF site. To the northwest across the A534 was the RAF Wrexham Airfield, now an aggregate site and fields.
