I stopped getting my ears flushed out long time ago and just try to clean around and inside of the outer ear without pushing wax down into the ear canal. Okay, just a small PSA since some people seem to misunderstand this, Q-tips can be used to clean the OUTTER part of your ear, but you shouldn't push them down your ear canal. A Q-tip box even states that you shouldn't push them in your ear. Just use it to gently wipe away excess ear wax from the outter part of your ear.

You are never, never supposed to stick a q tip in your ear, or anything else for that matter. Pushing a q tip into your ear push’s wax further down into the ear canal and can lead to a blocked ear drum and or infection.

I've been cleaning my ears with q-tips everyday since I was a little girl. Once I got older I learned we're not supposed to clean our ears with q-tips but I still do it anyway. It's habit! Tabatha Island If it’s true tinnitus you will have to wait like the rest of us. ‘They’ are still working on the cause(s). Some are known, like noise damage from loud music or explosions etc, & some theories are that it is more about the brain than the ear. A cure is nonexistent for now. Some places sell noise generators (like a hearing aid thingy) to mask it but I fail to see how that could possibly help. Some days it drives me nuts to the point of almost breakdown. 😞

Your ears are always itchy because you clean them too much. Earwax is normal, like the video said it's meant for protection. So if you always remove earwax your skin becomes dry and that's why it's itchy. Try cleaning it every other fifth day or every other following week.

About the ears working while sleeping, sometimes I will sleep while listening to a program or movie in the background and have surreal dreams about the subject which are often much more entertaining than the actual content.

However, starting about a year ago, I began having issues mentioned in this video ie. not hearing as well; ears getting stopped up, especially when I first wake up, popping sounds, and the feeling of water trapped inside. My Dr. irrigated my ears and said I was an "over-producer" of ear wax. I need to eat more oatmeal! After that first irrigation, I've had to have the procedure repeated several times and was told that the wax was now really dry (oatmeal time). The irrigation does make me VERY dizzy so I have to sit for awhile afterwards until it goes away.

@Minimalist gal (I'm a minimalist as well!) - The irrigation (they call it something else) was done at my doctor's office. After ascertaining that I do indeed have a ton of wax in my ears they bring out a machine that looks like a waterpik machine - a small plastic tank with water in it. The nurse puts the nozzle in my ear and, when it's turned on, water "bombards" my ear. It also sounds like a jackhammer...lol. The nurse says to tell her if it hurts. It doesn't hurt, but it's a weird feeling. As I noted above, after each ear I'm usually VERY dizzy, like the room is spinning around. At home, I often soak a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and squeeze the cotton ball over my ear, allowing the hydrogen peroxide to drip in. I can hear it "bubbling." I sit for about 2 minutes and drain it and repeat as needed. I found that tip in an online article written by a Dr. about ear wax causing loss of hearing.

SonshineLady Upping your water intake substantially can rid you of all those earwax related problems. I solved a similar issue by drinking more water. Consistency is key!

I think when you breathe though nose it is common for you to breathe out 1 nose and not always both. Because when you try to force your nose to breathe with both. You will end up taking in air to fast. You can breathe from both at same time, but your nose has to be in the right health and density, structure. Certain health conditions can influence it heavy in a bad way. Normal and rare ones. As smoking and bloody nose. The constantly bleeding one more so. I know because I had it. Note that wile my nose was non stop bleeding. It was very slow. Oh and never clean a bloody nose without it being washed out with warm water. Because you can end up actually hurting yourself. Blood in your nose that if hardened can become dangerous to your nose and finger. You will cut or puncture them.

My eardrum has been perforated for most of my life but I’ve never found blood when cleaning my ears. It’s probably just cause I didn’t clean them soon after the eardrum was perforated. And as a side note, I have about six months left until I’m at the top of the waiting list for the surgery in need to fix it, yay! No more chronic ear infections for me

It would seem that tips are for the external areas of your ears. You just barely get the tip into your ears opening. It's basically used to clean up what's been pushed out to the very opening of the ear canal. ^.^ I hope this helps!!!

If you don't jam it in then it's ok. The tip can possibly break off and you need a doctor to remove it. Also the wax is pushed deeper. An ear washing bulb is better and safe. And also the doctor and certain oils.

No earwax doesn’t help with balance. The fluid inside your inner ear called endolymph is what helps your balance along with the thin hair cells inside. Earwax is there to protect your ears by keeping bugs and dirt stuff from getting deeper into your ear canals.
