The difference between the loop and producer category is the use of extra devices. Since looping and "looping" with extra devices got really hard to compare and judge against each other, it was decided that there will be two categories this year and probably also in the future: The loop category where only the loopstation (Mk1 or Mk2) will be allowed. And the producer category where your use of extra devices is practically limitless as long as the sounds are originally produced by your voice etc. Nevertheless there have already been quite a few discussions about what: originally produced by your voice means and what not. But thats basically the difference. Edit: Also the loop category will still be a battle mode while the producer category will be a showcase mode but with more time

to complete your comment in the loopstation category, a MIDI controller is allowed with the Mk1 or Mk2. For example Impedance and Dice used it.
